Ebay seller question

For all of your experienced sellers on ebay...
Have you ever had USPS lose one of your packages?

I had a buyer contact me today...I sent her package out 10-20 have a tracking number through paypal and she has yet to receive it. I dropped another package off at the same time and see that package was delivered on 10-24. No insurance was purchased.
It was an oversized package...I had the post office check everything to make sure I had enough postage and they said it was good. It went parcel post but even still its been way too long for it to go from IN to MA.
Have any of you lost packages that they ended up finding? Can I file some type of lost package report to try to track the package? Without insurance I wonder if I'm screwed??? I only have the paypal receipt showing I sent the package which isn't nearly as good as having a receipt from the post office because they could say I didn't actually drop it off. All my tracking info says is that the USPS has been notified that a label was created to ship.

Anyone with advice or knowledge I'd appreciate your input!

I'm not that much of a seller but I bought something on ebay last week and was shipped out last thursday and I just received it today and it was shipped priority mail from NJ. I think something must be up w/ the mail right now especailly since it took 9days for a priority package to get here. Good luck w/ everything.

If you sent it out parcel on 10/20, I wouldn't worry. Parcel is extremely slow. The buyer will probably get their package at the end of the week, or even into the next.

I've never had a parcel take this long though...on Monday it will be two weeks that I sent it out. Counting business days it will be about 11 business days. USPS says about 6 and my first class package got there in 4 days I would have expected the person would have had it by now. I hope it arrives on Monday.

I've had buyers who thought they didn't receive a package but then later found it-either their apartment management office had it, a neighbor was holding it for them, or their spouse had it put away somewhere, etc. Is that a possibility?

You mention a tracking number -what does that say? I think if you have proof of shipping, you may be covered.

Worst case scenario, you can file a claim with the post office to track it, but I think it can take weeks for them to find anything out.

The tracking from USPS says nothing...it just says they were notified of a package that is to be shipped. Just like what you see before you ship the item but have printed the label from paypal.
If it was delivered the label would have been scanned.
Only proof I have is just from paypal. I mean the lady at the post office will remember measuring the package for me but I don't think that will help me with paypal. I'm sure this is going to affect my 100% feedback but its definitely not my fault. I shipped it immediately I can't help what happens to it when it leaves me hands

If it was sent PP I wouldn't worry at all yet. USPS has become EXTREMELY slow as of late and I have had first class packages take up to 23 days (business days) and from GA to OH, not that far! It is often now that packages are taking atleast 2 weeks.

But yes, I have had my packages disappear. Several of them throughout the year. The USPS doesn't really care, even if you insured it because it was damaged! They usually disappear in groups, sometimes it will show up about 6 months later but very seldomly.

I used to ship out hundreds of packages a month!

I had two packages mailed from Baltimore to PA the same day, I tracked both numbers. One said the tracking the other said the lable was created. It was coming up on Labor Day weekend and it contained all the books my dd needed for cyber school. The one lb box came fine the oversize I tracked almost 2 weeks waiting for information. Nothing was showing up.

then it finally appeared. I know it was 44 lbs and I thought no one wanted a HUGE heavy box of books (not media rate).
Did you get a confirmatiom of delivary? I always do when shipping Ebay. The box is sitting someplace.

I hope it is resolved soon.

So...if it is lost does the buyer automatically get a refund from paypal?
