Should I bother with this? I have never shipped anything outside the US so I don't know what's involved. Are there extra fees I will have to pay, or any extra hassle? Please tell me all there is to know, thanks!

Yes, IMO, especially when the exchange rates are so fantastic for people outside the US. I require paypal for international sales. It opens a bigger market for you. I am sure you will get varying responses from Ebay vets! Good luck.

Thanks. Are there any fees (aside from actual shipping costs) I will have to pay or anything special I will have to do once at the post office?

If you are new to eBay, I would suggest restricting your items to U/.S. bidders.

I have only shipped to a few different countries and there were no unusual fees. But insurance is not available on the cheapest shipment mehods (economay post, letter post) so in effect insurance could cost USD fifteen dollars to start on small items.

If something seems ambiguous, quote the higher rate. Quote parcel post, not letter post shipping charges. If the package does not look like a letter the clerk at your post office may or may not insist that it go parcel post, which costs more. Alas this is one of the ambiguities that leads the casual buyer to think that sellers rip buyers off on postage but so be it.

We've been shipping overseas since the begining of our ebay career. Our items are under $20.00, and we never require insurance (shipping is too expensive and you seldom, according to people on the eBay board I'm in, get reimbursed for problems overseas). We always ship air letter post, as long as the item is under (I think..too busy to look it up) 4 pounds. I have never had a buyer say the item didn't come or had anything wrong with it. It's a simple form, we fill it out before we leave home, and we never lie and say it's a gift. Your mileage may vary, depending on what you are selling.

I have never had a problem with international buyers. Any additional shipping should be borne by the buyer. There are no additional fees for international on your part. The buyer may have custome fees etc but that is really not your problem.
