For all you seasoned Ebay sellers....

how many days is better ? 5,7 or 10 ? I try and have mine close on Sundays .... but how many days have you seen more success with ?????

Thanks
PG

I always list for 7 days. I tried 5 a couple times before with no much luck.

I usually have the best luck with ending on Monday or Tuesday evenings. Typically I do 5 day auctions, occasionally 7 day. :)

I remember reading on an ebay board that listing on Sunday for 7 days was the best. I used to list on Saturday and have noticed that Sunday works the best!

Remember that Ebay is on Pacific time, so if you are listing in New York, you need to account for the 3 hours. Don't have an auction end at 9:00am est when it is 6:00 am Pacific, no one will be up and bidding.

Often times, the last 1/2 is when you get the most bids.

Also, remember sometimes after you list, the auction is not uploaded to the search option for a few hours. You can see the auction when doing a search of your items listed, but not on the regular search engine. So, don't do it too late in the day, because you will be missing out too!

I find that 3:00pm NY time is best, as it is noon in California and people should be up, even if they slept in on their Sunday!

Good Luck!

I always do 7 days. If there are no bids by day 6, I revise my auction to make it a 10 dayer.

I also heard Sunday's are best.

7 is the way to go and have them end during the work week...people are on Ebay alot at work. I should know...I monitor my work's network and see Ebay come up quite a bit

Big brother is watching:teeth:

keep in mind too that it really depends on what you are selling. If your "target market" is young adults then ending on a weekend may not be the way to go unless it is Sunday evening. If your target market is Moms of babies or preschoolers, then weekday midafternoon is often best. You catch working Moms around lunch hour and stay at home Moms during nap time for the kids.

One good idea is to subscribe the premium counter service at andale.com. Doing so allows you to see a breakdown of hits on your auctions by hour so you can see when it is that most people are looking at it. If you notice a trend, it's probably best to list to end at one of those peak times. Andale's research option is also a great thing to consider if you are just getting started. I think it may be called "price finder" now. It allows you to search completed listings that don't still show up in ebay's completed listings search. Unlike ebay's search, it filters out all the ones that didn't sell and just gives you info on those that do. You get a breakdown of average price, highest and lowest price. What features people used and what % of those items sold (so you can see if gallery or bold etc. makes a difference on that item), what categories they were listed in and % sold, and the same for ending on each day of the week. It gives you a recommendation for the best scenario such as "list on a Tuesday for 5 days with an opening bid between $4.99 and $6.99 and a buy it now of $11.99."

I've noticed lately that one of two things happens, it either goes with buy it now during the first 24 hours or it gets watchers, but no bids untill the last couple of hours. The majority of the watchers show up in the first and last day too. I notice no difference in the # of watchers or bids between 5 or 7 day listings. I tend to do 5 just to keep things moving. I think a lot of times people do a search and look at the stuff about to end and maybe another sort for things newly listed but they don't always look through the stuff in the middle. I've even done some 3 day listings and revised with about 18 hours left to 5 days if need be. You can always revise again to 7 without paying a fee. You don't get a fee untill you get to the point of requesting 10 days.

Can the bidders see the counter???

I see this too!

And what about shipping, I think I am doing that wrong. How do I get supplies from the PO ? I hear you can get them on-line, but I can't figure out where and how...

Thanks !

That's up to you. You can choose one they can see or choose a hidden one only you can see.

You can order free priority mail supplies from here keep in mind they are ONLY for priority mail. If you are selling lightweight stuff, consider buying some packaging materials and offering first class or parcel post shipping. I hate looking at kids clothes and finding a shirt I want for DS but seeing it listed as almost $4 to ship a kids tee shirt. No thanks. It always makes it priced too high to be worth bidding. If you bought a big box of large clasp envelopes and charged the $1.50 first class mail would cost plus 25 cents extra for the envelope (which would MORE than cover your cost) then it's much more reasonable.

I like to end my auctions on Thursdays or Fridays. I normally list on the weekends and do 5 day listings. I started out with 7 days but I get too impatient for that. I'm on the "counter" sites constantly checking the progress of my items.

Sometimes I'll do a 3 day if I just want to get rid of something but most of the time it's 5 days for me.

Try here...

I list my items on Sundays for 7 days and on Tuesdays for 5. This works for me. I also list all but collectibles for Buy It Now because I'm aware that most of my items are for busy moms who don't have time to watch and bid. I base the BIN price on the highest price this item has sold for in the past 30 days
.

Robinrs I do not see the schedule fee there, I did check that b4 ...

also, has anyone had luck with the fixed price auction ????
