Hello all...
A few weeks ago, I had the experience on eBay of having two non-paying bidders. I gave them over a month to respond to my e-mails and nothing. Now, I have some auctions listed where I clearly state that I will ONLY ship to the United States and someone placed a bid from Hong Kong. What should I do?

I am feeling pretty discouraged about this eBay your way to Disney thing now. I was really hoping to make some good money for our trip in December, but I keep running into problems and wonder if it is worth the headache or not???:confused3

Thanks for letting me vent my frustration.

I really believe you can cancel those bids and block the bidders.

On this page - EBay Site Map there is a link under Manage My Items for Sale for 'Cancel Bids on My Item'. Then you can go back to a link shortly below that to 'block' the bidder.

First email them to find out if they have a USA mailing address--I've had several out-of-country bidders (including from Hong Kong) who had relatives in the USA who paid for & received Ebay packages for them.

THEN if they don't have a USA mailing address, cancel their bid and block their auctions. OTOH, if it's a really hot item, you can let them bid it up and see who ends up winning--they might help drive up the price and a USA bidder might win it (I've had this happen a few times).

I'd contact the buyer..I had a few folks bid from Hong Kong and they actually had me mail it to an address in the states. One was in CA and one in FL...it could be a circumstance just like this! And even if they want it to go to Hong Kong...why not??? As long as they pay the shipping? It really isn't difficult!

I"ve mailed stuff to England, Canada and France (I think). Its really isn't diffulcult to mail overseas, it just takes a LONG time for them to receive.

NOt is you mail air...it take 5-7 days. If you mail ground it can take up to 3mos. The cost difference if usually small...I will only quote airmail..

First off...don't get frustrated. I've been a seller/buyer on ebay for years now. Starting out it can be frustrating and at times seem not worth the effort, but the situations you are describing are very infrequent and are often quickly resolved. For the non-paying bidders, you can file a Non-paying bidder alert (NPB) alert. This starts the process whereby the bidders are sent an email warning them to make payment or otherwise face ebay 'penalties--ie, possible suspension'. This willalso allow you to recoup some of your ebay fees. Secondly, for the bidder from Hong Kong, send them an email requesting where the item is to be sent. If the mailing address is in the US, you're ok; if not, you can cancel the bid. Hope that helps. Good luck !

block them. The final selling price may go up much higher if all these people are bididng on it.

I'm also feeling some frustration. I've enjoyed the extra money but I have had a non-paying bidder and I'm afraid that I have a couple more from my most recent auctions and I've only been at this for about six weeks.

I'm also frustrated that I keep having to deny payments when people pay through Paypal with a credit card. I stated really clearly "No credit cards", but it keeps being ignored.

I'm sure that I'll keep selling, but it is frustrating.

There must be a rash of them. I've been selling since 2001 and have always had pretty good luck, but in the last 10 days I have had four people not respond when they won. One guy finally paid after I sent him 4 invoices/emails. I have sent one lady 3 and will file non-paying bidder on her tomorrow morning. The other two still have until tonight before I send them a reminder.

I have noticed I'm getting a lot of auctions won by people with very low feedback, not bad, just low numbers. The one lady that I haven't heard from has a 5 or 6 and it's all positive, but I 've not heard from her at all. (It's been over a week)

Hang in there! I think it's worth it for the extra money. Every dollar I make puts me one step closer to DCL!
