I have never purchased lodging on ebay, but I'm sure many of you have. I found a 2 BR/2 BA unit at Wyndham Bonnet Creek, which is more than we need, for a rational price for 5 nights during T'giving week. (we only need 4 nights, but would stay the 5th) The dates match our needs. The listing has this statement:
Not eligible for eBay purchase protection programs

So, does that mean I shouldn't buy it? The seller is obviously an individual. The seller does have a rating for having sold a TS unit there is June. But only one rating. I don't want to pay for something and not get it.

Tell me your thoughts. Thanks.
(BTW, my backup plan is a reservation at Hilton BC, so I do have something to fall back on.)

Your real concern is the feedback of the seller. Do they have good feedback? It doesn't have to just be timeshare rentals. Are they active? You could ask them a question about something to gauge how responsive they are.

Many people on this forum have used ebay and I can't recall any problems, but you have to be comfortable. The first time I bought lodging on ebay I was nervous -- that was 10 years ago and since then I have used it countless times and saved a ton of money.

We have bought at Bonnet Creek on ebay a bunch of times over the last couple of years. The first time i was an ABSOLUTE wreck before checking in. All I could imagine was paying all of that money and getting to Bonnet Creek and having them say they had nothing in my name!! Well, everything went off without a hitch and the rest is history. I have learned since that first time that you can call Bonnet Creek and verify your reservation a couple of weeks in advance so you would be able to check and see that everything is in order.

Having been both a seller and buyer on ebay for many years, I am familiar what could go wrong and what to watch out for.
Feedback is an important guideline to check but if all they do is sell their timeshare once or twice a year, there many not be much to go by.
I have bought lodging on ebay in the past, no issue. Just this past week, I got a one bedroom @ Bonnet Creek for a very good price.
This was from an individual, not through a broker. I read his feedback and had great communication with him throughout the whole process.
I was told all the information about the reservation would be emailed to me within 24-36 hours and once I received it, I immediately confirmed with Bonnet Creek. I will once again verify the reservation the day before we leave just to confirm once again.
