Hello everyone, one day soon I will know you all by name and welcome to any new cruisers!!!

My mom booked the cruise as well, she will be on Deck 5 near us so that is very exciting, it will be her retirement cruise!!! She has dis-ed occasionnaly so she has a user name, so I know she will be joining our thread soon, she is so excited about the FE!!!

Just a bit of bragging, but my ds, Jacob won a poster contest for Fire Chief for a day. It was such a wonderful day, they gave him his own firefighter uniform and genuine helmet. He did so well and was on the news and in the local paper, I am very proud of him!!! Just had to share!!!

Doing your own laundry...$1.00 to wash and $1.00+ to dry
Sending it to the DCL Laundry...Somewhat more expensive
Febreeze, a Tide Stain Stick and Downy Wrinkle Release (or whatever it's called!)...PRICELESS!

:rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

sounds like a winning combination to me.

I'm having a great time in Chicago, thanks Gina! Hope your TA got your OBC worked out...from Ian's explaination, might have their hands tied since their commission is lower.

Ok, off to get some Souffle from the restaurant's hotel!
Lisa

Hey Lisa, Glad you are having a great time!!! My TA did get it all worked out, she apparently forwarded my emails to DCL HQ and they said it was an oversight on their part so I get DCL's OBC, my TA's and my mom just booked so DCL is giving me an additional OBC for friends and family, so I am doing so well!!!! I will need all the extras I can get, just to cover my Shutters bill:scared1:

Take care!!:)

We can go the 7 night without doing laundry but, we will have to do it at least once on this one.

Does anyone know what the tips would be?

That's fantastic! How old is Jacob?

Actually, I have the exact opposite approach. Last cruise, we did back to back. I only packed for one and did laundry on the day between. It was so nice to not deal with all that luggage. So if you see me wear the same shirt a few time over the course of 14 days- I promise it has been washed. :) :) :)

I don't mind laundry when I can sit at the pool or on my veranda while it washes. :woohoo:

We do not have a veranda - so I just utilze the laundry service it is wonderful to have everything so nicely ironed and returned - that is wonderful part of vacation for me :) I dislike doing laundry and depise ironing.

I will be right with you on wearing the same thing more than once - and mine will be washed too :)

Okay, I think I am way behind the times here. Since when have we been able to pre-pay our tips? When I called to add airfare, I mentioned all I had left to pay was tips. The CM told me that I could pre-pay those now. Of course, I still can add extra on the cruise if I like (which I always do). But it is nice to know, I only have to pay the extra.

BTW a Cat 3 for 2A and 1 Teen was $10,200 on Monday. There was only ONE left.

don't tell me it's there lalalalalalal, I can't see it then I can't miss it :3dglasses

Yay Jacob!

I'm at the Sheraton Downtown - beautiful hotel! Went to go get a hotdog at Portillo's - Ian's recommendation.

Portillo's is the best!! You also need to get some Giordanos Chicago Style Stuffed Pizza...Its great!!! Have fun!

I think we will also be doing laundry on this cruise!! I plan on packing for 10 days and washing for the rest of cruise! I don't want to pay to check any extra bags, so we are going to travel light! Extra light!

Ok, I have a plan and I need your input!

I have found a 4 nite DCL Cat. 12 for $1779 for the 3 of us. With air the total will be $2186. If I rebook our Trans and get the 10% I can save $1000? So the Jan. trip will only cost $1100.....I will then cancel our extra days in Barcelona and save $1800, and come out $700 ahead?

What do you think?

I just don't know that we can wait 18 months for a trip! and this would give us a fix until 2010.

It comes to $12 per day per person, so it would be $168 per person for the 14-night cruise.

Thank you Michele. I saw someone else's amount in tips and I got a little scared. I couldn't remember how much I had tipped on my only other cruise several years ago. This is the base amount. Do people add more to that?

love it, have to cruise twice to enjoy a savings, am I reading this right???

I booked a dummy on our repo cruise not knowing what I would put it on, until this came along. I'm going on a NYE cruise and thinking of booking one more dummy if I can book for just one person and then have it hanging out there for the new ships when they are ready...Please don't rat me out to my DH, he would not see the logic make a deposit today to save a tomorrow :rolleyes1

Thanks for the info. So $168x8= yikes! :lmao:

i thought that if you rebook onboard it would have to be a new reservation? can you rebook onboard and apply it to a reserved booking to get the discount and the obc?
