Sure enough they called back and let me add 2 nights without a change to the airfare. That was nice :goodvibes

Now how do I get DH and DD to join us in Barcelona for the weekend???Lifeboat anyone???

They're staying in the lifeboats again???

I think I picked the cheap $400 a night hotel :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Cheap, ya right...I think it was AC Barcelona. If my memory was correct, they had comment about adding 2 children in a room, which is very hard to find in Barcelona, so if Paul and Molly meet us in Barcelona I'm hoping to just add them directly thru the hotel (or cheat and sneak them in) 2 extra nights also. I wish I knew when their spring break was, hopefully it will fall into some of the time, so that Molly can come along too, I really can't take her out of school for 2 weeks in 8th grade.

with your luck...you'll end up with a room with twin beds...

One questions from a person that is not sailing with you.

How many threads are you all going to go through? You are already on page 34 of thread #1 when it is a year and a half away! WOW!

I want to follow this one!

Oh this is nothing on the WB repo we had 17 pre cruise and we're up to #7 post cruise... (and the first one was BEFORE they cut them up into 250 page limits...)

I can't think that anything that is done in 1st grade can't be taught thru parents. You will be fine with the little ones on this trip. :thumbsup2

Nan.. I can't teach calculus... sorry... :sad2:

I think that you have no other choice but to book this cruise and join us!

<persuasive whispers...>
join us...join us...join us...join us...join us...

C'mon...you know you want to!

Do people know of any TAs that are offering good OBC? I've heard of Costco, but I haven't had any bookings with them. I don't think the TA I usually book with is offering anything.

My travel agent called me yesterday and said no changes with pre hotel etc. could be made or we would get charged the higher airline rate. So I'm not touching it.

I got the call from my TA today saying that DCL called her and told her they would honor the highly discounted price I received but I could not make any changes at all, pre-nights, post-nights, change of who is in the room or anything. In fact the only thing they said I could change was to add the trip insurance if I wanted. I suppose the would mean more money for them so of course I could add that. :)

If you book onboard, and designate a TA on the spot, the TA gets the full commission. The change is: if you transfer the reservation later, the TA gets a reduced commission. Some TAs base their OBC (separate from the DCL OBC) on the commission they receive.

Ahhh, thank you!!!:goodvibes

I usually take my kids out for a two week vacation at least once a year. I have never had a complaint from our school district. I send a letter to each teacher in advance and get any missed school work. My kids are pretty good students and I am actually homeschooling Athena this year. I don't know if we will continue with it but it is working for her for now as we work through some health issues that kept her out of school most of this year. Logan will be in highschool when this cruise happens. I checked with his school and the most days he can miss in a row before losing credit is 10. We should only be missing 10 with the cruise and he is only going to be a freshman so I figure he will be fine! I booked the eastbound as opposed to the westbound because I figured by spring his teachers would know him and us better! I realized today that we booked our flights with disney and got the super deal. We chose to fly out of Seattle on friday the 8th and stay the night in a hotel in Orlando. I may see if I can change it to the redeye flight so he doesn't miss Friday of school. If he misses that day as well it would be 11 days :(

If you change your flights you will lose your great airfare rate.
Your daughter and my daughter wanted to meet on the last cruise but never did arrange a meeting place. Hopefuly they can meet this time around. I hope her health is better now.

We took our kids in 2nd & 5th grade on the PC repo, 2 weeks. It was ok. But I did realize that my DD who will be in 8th grade at time of this cruise it would be too hard on her. It depends on the kid if it will work or not. I think my son could do it at any age, but he is different kind of student than DD. Both do well in school, but she really needs the school environment to make it work for her.

My daughter does well in school with ease but my son has a harder time (he gets good grades but really has to work at it) so him missing will be harder on him so I know what you mean.It will be so hard for them to get caught up when we get back. Is it worth it?

Hey Lisa, you are right, we booked with DCL and had to add Carols name to the ressie in order to transfer to her as far as I understand. She said that I can still transfer it to her but will get a lower OBC from her as her name wasn't on the ressie. If her name was on the ressie she would be able to give us more (that is + the DCL OBC). I did give them her name but they didn't add it to the ressie. Clear as mud:lmao: I know that if I didn't get in on the glitch I wouldn't be too happy either, that is a huge difference!!! We had wanted to make some changes to our air when we got home, now any changes will forfeit the savings. It is definately not a big deal as I am still coming out on top. Especially the way the Canadian dollar is right now, we need all the help we can get.

HAve a great time in Chicago!!!:goodvibes
Gina

Hi there -- I'm wondering if it's still possible to transfer our ressie to Dreams Unlimited even though we have the glitch airfare. Or would that count as a change and would lose us the airfare? I'm only considering it for the OBC and I'd hate to try to gain a little and lose a lot.

that's why we decided to make it a mom & son trip. DH & DD will come over maybe for a week or so and meet us in Barcelona. We can decide if it will work closer to our travel dates.

Wooster-- about an hour south of Cleveland.... 1 1/2 hours northeast of Colubus....45 minutes west of Canton/Akron area

where in ohio are you from? im in northwest ohio in a suburb of toledo.

Does DCL fly you in and out the day of the ship leaving both ports? I'd like to leave a few days after the cruise arrives in Barcelona but it seems like if you book airfare with DCL you are on their schedule? Is this correct?

that is what I have always been told - I think you can add a day or two on each end but we always come down 3-4 days ahead and are planning on staying in Europe for possibly a week after the cruise so the DCL airfare will not work for us - even if we had the great deal others got.

Krisann

My gosh I know...we got a huge deal on airfare...only about $900 extra on top of the cruise price for 2 adults from PA to FL then back from Barcelona to PA.

G'Day emmah! Welcome aboard!

Disneyland Paris? I am SO jealous. Someday I'll get there.

Please PM me if you'd like to be added to our website ( I'll need your names/ages (at time of cruise), hometown, stateroom number and dinner seating.

Only 535 days to go!

Michele

I tried to PM you but apparently I don't have that privilege yet - I will have to get busy and post some more messages! I would love to be added to the list. I have stateroom 7624, and the main dining rotation. thanks for the welcome everyone!

Hey...

.... just passing through... bought a new desktop to edit my HD Video footage - just set it up and tonight I picked up the editing software from Best Buy. Maybe tomorrw I may order new photo editing software (Lightroom v2) along with DVD tutorials. I'm gearing up to bump everything I do with video and still images to a new level. I decided against going with new MAC machines and software on account of the cost and suggestion by many that I could accomplish everything desired at a fraction of the cost on a PC platform. I figure I spent near 1/3rd of what a similar MAC set up with software would have cost. I wonder whether this will prove true or just end up a waste of time and $$? In the end - if nothing less - I now have a powerful desktop which will ALMOST run the most powerful PC games at moderate frame and resolution rates. Or at least so after I upgrade the video card further. Eventually I hope to set up dual monitors ... probably only 22" sized as those are a lot cheaper than twin 24" (or larger). Or who knows... maybe I'll go with twin 24s AFTER I upgrade the V-card. For now I'm using an old 19" LCD screen while I get used to the new applications and so forth.

At any rate, we're about to depart for our Princess Sapphire cruise this weekend - and now I'll get to do the Zip line I skipped on our REPO, and Julianna will get her swim with the Dolphins that we skipped on account of alternate plans made with the families gathered in our group in AP. And maybe we'll do horses or similar somewhere. OR maybe not?

As for everything else... things are good... the kids are scoring goals in Soccer... and ... and ... and... oh yeah... we booked 5 cabins for the July 18th Magic sailing for the Northern port rotation. We do have some potential instability in following through with these plans though. There are a number of shifting issues in our group (not us as we remain flexible in following the consensus)... and as such we might actually switch to another cruise line OR we might even switch to cruising another region then Northern Europe. Given the potential instability of the July Disney plans we temporarily had a backup reservation for the April Repo - which was the 1st choice for Alicia and I... in the end however, we decided it was best to just hold ONE reservation to travel in Europe. It's tough though to plan anything under these shifting circumstances with folks favoring conflicting factors for 2010. I have not taken the time to skim back to see whos doing what sailing... and so forth... but it suffices we decided the September REPO was not going to work for us. And as I recall - that was the most popular. Sigh... guess we'll miss ya who are on this sailing. However with any luck we'll possibly still sail with everyone HERE in April of 2010 if our group remains as unstable in it's plans for July 2010!

Alicia and I are likely to sail Disney in 2009 - it's just we are not certain which one it wil be this time. Most likely we'll do something semi-spontaneously again when Alicia and the kids get restless.

Oh well... time to scoot for now... I gotta burn some DVDs for the girl scout troop - and friends before we shift into high gear to cruise this weekend...

I have to stop turning on MSNBC or CNN in the morning. All this economy talk is starting to make me think I am crazy for planning a cruise to Europe!

But, I am excited to do it anyway....my rationale is I can cancel all the way up to 120 days out.

Hi,

I was lurking the boards and internet for trip reports and all kind of info about the EB TA from 2007 and look what i found!!!!!!

I think a lot of this info is still usefull for this upcoming cruise......

Are you and Wilson planning a mother and son running with the bulls? I hear that's very popular.
