EB Repositioning 4/10/2010 Taking the MAGIC out to sea again in April!

I'm a wee bit frustrated, I rebooked while onboard last week, gave my TAs card to the woman who said the numbers didn't match what was in her system but to just contact my TA when I returned. My wonderful TA said that she is not on the ressie. Alot of people from our last cruise from the DIS ended up booking with her for that cruise and we got a group rate, amazing OBC, gifts in our stateroom and a FREE cocktail reception on formal night, I definately want to rebook with her again!!!!! She is trying to figure it all out for me. She did say when she spoke with DCL that some of us were quoted a much lower airfare rate....and I mean MUCH lower, and they will honor it as long as no changes are made to the ressie, so I don't want to mess with that.

What we have been told is if you change the dates, you will get the higher airfare rate. I'm not sure what happens if you missed your flight- I would think you would be covered if DCL messed up on the transports to the airport...that would be the only way to miss it I think since DCL does the transfers? If you intentionally missed it, I'm not sure what they would do. I'm not sure I'd want to test those waters!

Also, I don't remember anything about the $75 fee being able to allow you to change the return rate. Is that the case? I recall they mentioned about a $75 fee that would allow you to request to fly with another cabin passengers (so for our party, we would add that once we can so I can fly with DH and other kids). They told me we couldn't add that yet - I think they said to call back sometime in May. Anyone else have ideas about that $75 extra charge? Now I am wondering if we chose to add it, maybe they would change the lower rates?

Welcome! Are you in TN? We live in Jackson - love to see others from TN going - we homeschool and if we were in school this cruise is during TCAPS so it would not have been possible - glad your school said yes! My daughter will have just turned 15 the month before the cruise.

Yes. We live just outside Nashville in Franklin. I was worried about TCAPs too, but then I was reminded that High School does not take TCAP. They will only take the state Gateway in the Fall.

Are you using disney for airfare? If so, I bet we will be on the same flights out of Nashville, unless they have you fly from Memphis. I think Jackson is about 1/2 way in between isn't it.

Yes, I was. But if you make any changes, they will not keep the glitch in place. On the main thread, Penny posted that DCL is calling people proactively to inform them of this.

I'm sorry - I don't think I understand why you are frustrated. Is it that your TA isn't on your reservation? If so, I'd wait a few weeks after all this airfare situation blows over and just transfer your reservation then. It is really easy to do. I'm wondering if I don't understand the situation though...

Not a huge deal but kind of frustrating because I did give the woman all of the info so not sure why she didn't add it.

You will still keep the OBC that DCL gave you - is your travel agent saying she could have got you a better OBC if she made the reservation initially? I haven't known that you can use an agent to book on board. We were always told you book directly with DCL on board, and then transfer once you get home. And then once we transfer to an agent (or Costco, AAA, whatever) we got whatever deal they were giving. In 2007, we ended up getting I think $600 on board between DCL & TA. But goodness knows, you hear different things from sometimes the same person! Yes, the glitch was good for some, frustrating for others (if they didn't get the rate - or DCL decided not to honor it due to a change).

I haven't the thread, I'm not sure if I should or just jump in and keep going- it seems to be going pretty fast and I have limited internet access for keeping up. But can I just say again "I can't believe I'm going to Europe!!!"

I'd just jump in on the thread whenever you get a chance. That's what I do on the PC thread, because it moves way too fast for me to keep up from day to day.

Hey Lisa, you are right, we booked with DCL and had to add Carols name to the ressie in order to transfer to her as far as I understand. She said that I can still transfer it to her but will get a lower OBC from her as her name wasn't on the ressie. If her name was on the ressie she would be able to give us more (that is + the DCL OBC). I did give them her name but they didn't add it to the ressie. Clear as mud I know that if I didn't get in on the glitch I wouldn't be too happy either, that is a huge difference!!! We had wanted to make some changes to our air when we got home, now any changes will forfeit the savings. It is definately not a big deal as I am still coming out on top. Especially the way the Canadian dollar is right now, we need all the help we can get.

In early '08, DCL changed its commission schedule to TAs.

If you book onboard, and designate a TA on the spot, the TA gets the full commission. The change is: if you transfer the reservation later, the TA gets a reduced commission. Some TAs base their OBC (separate from the DCL OBC) on the commission they receive.

Jackson is 2.5 hours from Nashville and 1.5 from the memphis airport (only 1 hour from the outskirts of Memphis for shopping, etc.)

I grew up in White House - so I come to nashville area quite often.

No we are not doing the disney air fare - we will fly out of Nashville or Memphis (which ever is cheapest) on Wed. or Thursday berore the cruise and then stay maybe a week afterwards in Europe as I have family there. It is hard to tell at this point - it is still 18 months away after all

We do too and for the first time last cruise discovered diversions - they had games you could play all the time and we loved it - spent the 2nd half of the day going through the PC in there because I was burnt to a crisp and looked like a lobster

We purchased the Disney monopoly game while on board and had a blast playing it - but it is not one they offer in their selection of games. I will be bringing it with us on this cruise too!

Nan - Adding hotel was very complicated, and yes they said (after the fact) that adding the hotel does change the air price. If you have the special air and do NOT want to lose it, I suggest you do absolutely nothing to your reservation. Like you say Nan- it is probably a wash if you want to stay longer to go ahead and go on your on. I'm sure you can get hotel rooms and transfers for less than the DCL hotel post cruise price.

Here is another question about air & DCL -
if you do have air with DCL, do you think you have to pay for your luggage or will that be included in the cost?

I think you would have to pay for extra bags.

So did you change your stuff, are you staying later and if so that means your airfare deal is gone Maybe later we can check into changing again, maybe once time has moved away from their mistake the pain would be lessened

I am a bit confused....if you have the great rate from DCL.....unless you thought at the time to change the return day, for $75.....you will loose anyway, right. You can't stay extra days and keep the rate?

What would happen if you "missed" yer flight and "had" to take a later one?

I think I remember this concept of the $75 change fee, I'm going to see what I can find on this.

Just got "that call" from DCL air and was told the effective date to make no changes without a cost increase is TODAY! I asked why couldn't I make the change I requested yesterday? She is looking into it and calling me back...the story continues....
