I can't believe our trip is crawling closer....

I'm getting into the more detailed itinerary planning and have a couple of questions

We are a family of 4: DH, DD (14) and DS (11) and we're going to be tent camping (with an AC) at FW for the last two weeks of August (I Know I know we're insane). We've chosen this place to stay for a number of reasons but one of the most prominent is that we will be able to eat the bulk of our meals at the campsite to cut down costs. However, this is a very important trip for us. I want to include as much in experiences as I possibly can including some of the incredible food and restraunt atmospheres.

On to the questions....

We are going to have breakfast Sunday morning at our campsite before hitting EMH at MK. We will then return to FW at lunchtime for a swim/rest and have sandwiches or an early dinner meal before going to Epcot's Future World in the late afternoon evening. Where would you suggest getting dessert in the later part of the evening near closing time? (we will not be seeing illuminations this evening but understand that certain attractions in Future World are open until 9:00 p.m.)

I was considering leaving the park around 8:45 or so by monorail back to the TTC and then going over to the Garden Grill. Is it possible to get a PS here just for dessert around 9:30 or so? Will it be possible to get back to our car at the TTC afterward or will we need to drive to the Contemporary directly in order to get back to our resort after dessert?

Sorry so long but thanks for any help you can offer!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Dessert Ideas

- The Fountainview on the Future World side of Epcot. If it is open that is a great spot to have dessert and coffee plus you can watch the beautiful water fountain too. You won't have to fight the WS Illuminations crowd either.

- The Coral Reef restaurant at the Living Seas, Future World. The are famous for their Chocolate Wave. Yes, you can make a PS just for dessert.

- The bakery at Norway. The have a nice selection of pastries plus soda, juice and coffee. There are tables at an outdoor seating area.

Dessert, outside of Epcot

- Kona Cafe at the Polynesian Resort. Nice desserts and great coffee. If you love chocolate try the Kiluea (sp) Torte.

- Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge. If you can get a PS for dessert, try their fabulous Berry Cobbler. Nice wine selection too.

- California Grill at the Contemporary. Desserts change with the season but their souffles are outstanding. You will have to wait for one though since they are made to order. Nice Creme Brulee also.

- Citricos at the Grand Floridian. Again, seasonal selections. Everything from sorbets to pastries.

I'm a little confused by the above part of your post - Will you be in Epcot at 8:45? Or going to Epcot at 8:45?

In either case - For the best of Epcot desserts, skip Garden Grille - Go to either Fountainview in Futureworld or Boulangerie in the French paviliion - No PS available or necessary for either.....

Thanks for your replies..

If we were going to escape the park for dessert outside, I would be looking to avoid the Illuminations mass exodus and get out of dodge around 8:45. If we choose to have dessert inside the park, we would do so around 8:45. I don't mind being a part of the exodus and I certainly wouldn't mind waiting the worst of it out while nibbling on something yummy!

Actually the Fountainview is/was my first choice but its my understanding that it is sometimes closed down so I was kind of looking for alternatives just in case.

I was also looking to avoid getting caught over in World Showcase during the Illuminations line up.

I did not realize that the dessert menu was also seasonal at the Garden Grill. I was looking at this as a secondary choice based on a current menu. Maybe this isn't such a good idea after all.

I don't have any dessert tips but you aren't insane. When I turned 15 my family and our family friends went in early July and we stayed in a pop up and they stayed in a tent at FW. Neither of us had AC and somehow we survived. I haven't done something like that since but I definitely don't think you're insane.
