2 questions for all you experts for a first timer.

Which are your favourite CS locations in both parks(all meals)?

Also we are staying at GCH and would like a breakfast on our last morning before leaving at 1pm, non park. Would you recommend Storytellers or Goofy's Kitchen. Or would you go with somewhere in DTD?

Just seen a menu for La Brea cafe and that looks good.

Thanks.

storytellers is really good for breakfast. We have eaten both there and at Goofy's Kitchen--but like Goofy's better for dinner.

Since you are staying at the GC, I would say go for Storytellers. It will be closer for you and is a little nicer than Goofy's.

The characters at storytellers are usually of the animal variety--chip and dale, the gorilla from Tarzan, etc....---and the characters at Goofy's kitchen are usually Goofy and his son, one of the princesses, Aladin, etc. So if it is important for your children to see certain characters, that might make a difference in your decision.

Have fun,
Lisa

My fave CS places are b/c of what they serve. So it's pretty specific.

At DL I like Royal St Veranda for their vegetarian gumbo in a bread bowl.

At DCA I like Pacific Wharf (cafe?) for their vegetarian chili in a bread bowl. :)

I haven't been to Goofy's at all, but we enjoyed the breakfast buffet at Storyteller's. They also serve from a menu until 11:30am, so you have a choice. Not much price difference between buffet (which includes beverages) and a menu item and a beverage, but if you want, say, huevos rancheros, you can't get that from the buffet! So it depends on what you want.

Goofy's is only a buffet.

What are the ages of your kids? I personally for character interaction and food items on buffet I like Goofy's better. I have been to both goofy's and storytellers and I do liket the items on goofy's better. Now that saying I haven't been to goofy's in 2 years and both times in the last two years I have gone to storytellers for convience and been able to walk right in with prob. a 20min wait no PS.

:lmao: We two kids are both 60!!!:dance3:

Thanks for the replies.

My favorite CS in DL is Redd Rocket's Pizza Port. DD8 and I usually share the Chicken Fusilli. :goodvibes They also have some very good (large) salads. I really like the Chinese Chicken Salad. And of course, they sell pizza by the slice, or whole. Pizza Ooh Mow Mow at DCA has the same pasta but, to me, it's not as good. Also, the salads at POMM are definitely not as good-they're served in a plastic box, with dressings in foil envelopes. The salads at RRPP are tossed with the dressing (you can get it dry) and served fresh all day. :cloud9: Same price.

Also, we've recently had the chicken strips at Stage Door Cafe in FL and they are pretty good. Some of our group wanted to eat at Rancho del Zocalo and I went to SDC to get DD8 something. I was going to order her the kid's meal version for $6 but decided to order the adult one for $8 instead and I would share it with her. (She already had a drink) The adult version has 3-4 (I think it was 4) fairly large chicken pieces with fries. It was more than enough for DD and I to share. I think the kid's one only has 1-2 pieces. So, if you get the adult version, 2 kids or an adult and kid can definitely share them. DD and I have done this several times.

We finally tried Bengal BBQ last summer and didn't care for it. It was pretty tasty but the portions were really small. DD got a Cinammon Snake (pastry thing) that was pretty good but it's off the menu now.

I don't really have a favorite CS at DCA. :confused3 They are lacking in my opinion. Last week, for the first time, DD and I grabbed a burger at McD's Burger Invasion. We each got a hamburger Happy Meal for $5 each. I was going to get myself a double cheeseburger (hold the cheese) for $6 and order it without the fries. (I could share DD's fries). The CM said it's only $1 less w/o the fries, so I decided on a KM burger instead. It's only $5 and inc. fries and a small drink. It was really hot that day so we weren't really very hungry. The burgers were good, standard McD's fare. We took our food next door and ate in inside at POMM. (ahhh....the air conditioning :cloud9: )

We've really never had a meal at Taste Pilot's Grill (only snack) or Award Weiners, though I've heard good things about both. We've had snack at Bur-r-r-bank Ice Cream and Bakersfield Bakery. Both are very good. Lately we've been hooked on the cinammon twists at the Bakery.

ADDED-Sorry I just re-read your original question and see you were asking about breakfast. So, my choice would be something from Bakersfield Bakery. Only problem is they open when DCA does and that may not be early enough for breakfast.

Disneyland - Red Rockett's Pizza Port. I love their salads and pizza. I always feel full, not stuffed, when I'm finished. I like eating in the outside atrium close to Space because not alot of people know about it or like eating inside. It's nice and shaded so we get a bit of resting time too

No, I'm interested in all meals at CS locations. The breakfast was just for the last morning.

I like Pacific Wharf at DCA.

Heya,

For Disneyland, I like Bengal BBQ and French Market best. Bengal is great if you like meat on a stick, :lmao: not so much if you don't.

For DCA, Taste Pilot's Grill.

For breakfast, if you still have admission to the parks available, I love Carnation Cafe on Mainstreet. Mickey Waffles and bacon, maybe a cup of fresh fruit. So good. Disney-must-do for my clan.

I would go for Storyteller's! :thumbsup2

Okay my favorite CSs:

Rocket Redd's or is it Redd Rocket's in Tomorrowland. Italian, good, and big portions, easy enought for sharing. :cool1:

French Market, NOS, fried chicken- YUM!

Plaza Inn, again good chicken on Main St.

Taste Pilot's Grill in DCA. Their "fixins" bar is awesome!

Whitewater Snacks in the GCH. really good breakfast burritos. :woohoo:

For your last meal (breakfast) I would do Storytellers. :) We haven't eaten there only because my DD8 doesn't like the way it smells. They do brick oven pizzas with fire and it smells too smoky for her, we've tried it a few times now and she just won't do it. She says "we can go but I won't eat" so we just don't go. lol We had a house fire a couple years ago and the smell of smoke gets to her sometimes. Anyway the point of that was to say I have no idea what anything tastes like but we really hated Goofy's so I'd do Storytellers. :)
Also, at PP they have Lilo & Stitch which was also fun, they do both buffet and menu iirc.

For CS, at DL we love Pizza Port! They have good pasta, good salads and good pizza. :) Our other DL fave is Rancho Del Zocaro, goooooood Mexican food!! :) AND they have Cherry Coke! :) LOL So we eat there often.

at DCA we really like Taste Pilots Grill, super yummy ribs and the chicken sandwich is good too. You add your own condiments but it's still goooood! :)
Corn Dog Castle is good too but it is going down for refurb soon so I'm not sure it will be open when you are there. We don't eat at Pizza Oh Mow Mow or the McD's they have there, if I want (not likely) to eat at McD's I'll leave the parks and go across the street and save some $$. :)

We always end our trips with breakfast at Storyteller's Cafe. If you get the buffet, you can order pancakes or Mickey waffles from your server for free, and I've also seen people get huevos rancheros from the omlette bar.

At Disneyland, we like Rancho and Riverbelle Terrace for CS.
At DCA, we like Pacific Warf Cafe

Hi granmaz - another WB Repo cruiser here!

I've checked the refurb schedule - Corn Dog Castle is scheduled to re-open right before we sail into LA. :) I just know DH is gonna want to try a corn dog!

I love Storytellers, but I prefer it for lunch or dinner. My favorite character breakfast is Lilo & Stitch over at Paradise Pier Hotel. The buffet is very good, or you can order off the menu. The characters really put on some fun antics, they are very enjoyable. And I've only been there with adults, no kids, and we still get tons of attention.

And if you're really craving a delicious corn dog, Disneyland has a red corn dog cart outside between the Kodak shop and the Carnation Plaza restaurant. Those corn dogs are very yummy, and I don't even like corn dogs.

Have a great trip!

Done all of the character breakfasts. We prefer Goofy's first as there are more characters. We also like Lilo and Stitch as it has really good a la carte menu and awesome interaction

Noone for Rancho del Zacholo(SP?)?? We are from San Antonio and think it's really good.

You sure it wasn't just my husband ordering a jalapeno omlette? :rotfl:

That pancake waffle thing tricked me. The server said "and would anyone like a Mickey waffle or pancake or both?" I thought "ooh, Mickey pancake!" So I said yes, of course, b/c at the time Riverbelle was closed. But she SHOULD have said it like you did, pancake or Mickey waffle. b/c it was just a pancake. Tasted the same, just not as fun. :upsidedow

ballarinamom, I love Rancho as well. I'm glad to hear of someone from a place like San Antonio give their support, b/c I was thinking I was just a doofus for liking their food. :) Hubby and I split their veggie version of the Monterrey platter and it was so much food. In Jan I had a kids bean and cheese burrito meal and it was *delicious*.

But I love the gumbo more. :goodvibes

You must have missed my post, I clearly said our 2 faves at DL are Pizza Port and Rancho! LOL We eat at Rancho more than almost any other CS in DL! I get the enchiladas with the veggies instead of rice/beans, soooo good!!

I'm with Califgirl in recommending the Lilo & Stitch breakfast. Stitch is a riot!
