Here are our reviews of our WDW trip 10/1510/22 hope you find them useful and enjoyable

Friday 10/15 Kona Cafe for Dinner
After a long day of driving down a trip that normally takes my dh and I 6.5 to 7 hrs to take, however with the extended family with us it took almost 11, we went to the Kona Cafe for dinner, dh and I weren't that hungry so we shared an entree. for starters we had the sticky wings, which I really didn't care for, dh thought they were just ok, and the Pinapple sweet bread, to me it was a little too sweet, everyone else really liked it. Dh and I shared the Beef Teriyaki which is basicly just Steak, marinated in teriyaki and other seasonings. It was accompanied by stir-fried rice and veggies and yukon gold mashed potatoes. It was very very good. After that, we walked over to the huge windows and watched Wishes, when we came back the chef had brought us a dessert sampler, it had Chocolate and Vanilla Ice cream scoops, with all the other deserts surrounding it, White Chocolate Cheesecake, Koko puffs, Kilauea Torte, Chocolate Macadamia Nut Tart, and seperately was the Caramel Banana Creme Brulee, the creme brulee was my fave and the kileau torte, but it was all very good. Kids had chicken fingers and grilled cheese, both said were good. give the Kona Cafe 2 thumbs up, watching the fireworks was awesome and the deserts were to die for.

Saturday 10/16 El Pirata y el Perico for lunch
I have wanted to try this restaurant but every other time we were there it was closed, so we gave it a try this time. I had the two tacos they were just meat cheese, lettuce, tomato, but they were very good and big, I was stuffed. Dh had the taco salad, neither of us cared for it, the meat was cold and it consisted of too much tomato. Chips and salsa were ok, just tostitos and run of the mill salsa, kids meals were one taco, oreo cookies and a drink, they both liked the tacos but were hard for them to eat, so after the first bite or two they fell apart and we just crunched them up and made sort of a mini taco salad, kids meal tacos only have meat and cheese though. Overall it was a good lunch, definitely good change of pace if your tired of burgers and hotdogs but really comparable to taco bell. one thumb up
More to come in another post.

Thanks for the great post. It has been several years since we ate at Kona Cafe for dinner, so we will have to give a try in the future.

Thanks for taking the time to review.

I'm sorry to hear the taco salad had cold meat. I usually have the taco salad and it's always been hot. Sorry you went when someone was having an "off" day.

Thanks for sharing. We are trying Kona on our next trip. I just might have to get that dessert sampler. how much was it?

A family member of my dh works at the kona and the chef came out and met us and then brought us the desert so I am not sure if they make it regualrly or even how much it costs because we didn't have to pay for it. Sorry I couldn't help more.
