Hello, we will be traveling with a disabled persons who require the ability to eat at any moment due to the nature of their disability but I understand there is still a mask requirement for indoors such as ride lines. Is eating in lines not allowed then????

If the que is outdoors; I don't see any reason why this wouldn't be allowed? We drank our Starbucks in some lines last month that were outdoors and a little more spread out.

That being said: please take full advantage of DAS access to the rides! You and your group should have minimal times waiting in lines. Will ensure the happiness, enjoyment and most importantly health!

Have a great time at Disneyland!

There are not that many indoor lines. It shouldn't be a huge problem. You can briefly pull a mask down to take a bite of food in an indoor line. No one is really policing it that strictly.

I don't think diabetes qualifies though? Even if its really severe? Idk.

Ok, thank you. We heard from friends they saw someone getting yelled at and kicked out of line for eating a dole whip so we were worried

RE severe diabetes (assuming T1?) - if it's to the point where it is debilitating then it might be worth contacting Disneyland ahead of time to better understand their DAS requirements and if it your traveling party *should* use the service or not. Just my 2 cents?

FWIW when we fly & need to eat we just sneak underneath the face mask a bite of food (ie dried fruit, snack bar etc). Easy peasy

Eating a Dole whip is different than slipping a couple bites of something under your mask. If someone tries to get in a line while holding something like a DOLE whip or a large drink like a coffee (something without a straw) they will be asked to finish it before getting in line, if the line is indoors, or will be told they have to finish it before the line enters the building. But I have seen people eating snacks out of a bag while in line, just slipping the food under the mask.

I see, I thought maybe eating a granola bar (which they would need to do) was more akin to a dole whip then a bite of a snack

i also remember some lines being "sorta" indoorish, like splash mtn. if it happened in there it would be too far for them to try to exit

i thought you couldn't do anything about that beforehand? someone told us that

As others have stated, as long as the line is outdoors, you can eat and drink as much as you want because there is no outdoor mask requirement. My wife and I ate a cookie while in the line for Dumbo a couple of Saturdays ago. Once the line heads indoors, you will be asked to put your mask on.

T1D here. I’ve had a couple lows over the past year and a half in places where masking was required. Slipping some carbohydrates under a mask has been pretty quick and easy, and nobody has noticed. Glucose gel or tablets is the easiest, and fruit juice isn’t much harder. I’d also imagine slipping bite-size chunks of other foods under the mask wouldn’t be too hard. It’s not like you’re taking a mask off and eating for half an hour straight.

I also make sure to test my BG before getting in long lines, and testing twice as often as usual on a Disney trip is my SOP. It’s really easy to mistake the symptoms of low or high BG for the usual fatigue, dehydration, effects of heat, and overstimulation that come with a day in the parks.

What about granola bites? Same thing as the bars, just in bite sized balls.
