My family & I have recently began to "eat clean" (virtually no processed foods/deep fried foods/refined sugar... etc but lots of lean protein & complex carbs) While I know it will be difficult, what are the restaurants that we should stick to to best fit our diet needs? Price is not a concern.

I'd say The Wave, California Grill, Kona Sushi Bar are the first ones that come to mind...

I think most restaurants though have options that are better than others. I think the toughest places to eat will be many of the CS restaurants that seems to have an abundance of burgers, fried foods, and sweets....but again, many have salads that would fit for the most part...

We're in much the same boat,

Most CS locations will have limited or zero options.

Most TS locations will have at least something close, or may be willing to help if you ask to speak with the chef due to dietary needs (they take care of diabetics and people with allergies, etc.)

We are in the same boat too! We found that the buffets are a little more problematic. We enjoyed yummy meals at California Grill, Jiko, the Flying Fish, Teppan Edo, Coral Reef and Narcoosees. The counter service is a little tougher, Seasons I think it is called, near Soarin in Epcot has a lot of healthy choices, though. Check out menus on www.allearsnet.com

I think you might have the best luck if you check out the Gluten-free threads. Also, if you really spend time and dig through the menus you might be surprised by what some of the CS have. While certainly not the greatest selection, there are options.

DD has lactose intolerance (very bad, as she can not even have butter as an ingredient) and I spent hours looking for dining options. I made a list of foods and restaurants to put in my iphone and we ended up having the most diverse CS meals in 3 years!

Here are a couple that come to mind

Epcot: (CS) Japan (grilled teriyaki chicken even in a kid meal) and The Sunshine Grill in The Land (rotisserie chicken, real mashed potatoes, veggie sandwiches, salads, soups)

DHS: probably the least options... we ended up at Pizza Planet (DS request) and got DD a soy cheese pizza (was actually good!) and we had salads and split the pizza. For TS in DHS Sci-Fi is a good option and the tofu dish there is pretty good.

MK: we ate at the taco place across from Pirates of the Caribbean. They had decent variety and a decent topping bar with lettuce, cheese, and tomatoes. You could also choose beans for the tacos and get rice mixed in with the beans.

A lot of the good food options are there, just not really on the menus. Sometimes you have to ask and wait a few minutes, but it is not too bad. Also, all of the CS restaurants have apple slices and carrots and grapes as options instead of fries.

Hope that helps. :)

You'll probably want to stick to signature TS places. The Wave at Contemporary seems to be right up your alley (not signature, but menu is all fresh, organic, mimimal/no processed ingredients, etc.)

What you will need to be careful of is sauces, desserts, and side dishes. You can substitute fresh veggies for most any side dish at the TS restaurants.

I'd check out Bluezoo at the Dolphin for sure. Lots of fresh seafood and excellent meat options as well.

Maybe do some searching on here for Vegan meals. I know that would elminate alot of what types of food you are trying to avoid. I think Tangerine Cafe in the world showcase would be great as well as the Seasons food court.

Thank you all so much for your responses so far! I have a lot of looking to do!

Tusker house has some good options (it's a buffet) and some of the best rotisserie chicken I've ever had.

I would say buffets that have a decent carving station and large salad area would be best (Cape May, Boma, Tusker House). Flame tree BBQ will do fruit with your meat. Cosmic Rays has some real food.

In epcot I'd try Germany (again a buffet), the take out in Morocco, and any of the TS and CS in Japan.

Good luck in HS--the food is terrible no matter what your diet!

Counter service in Morocco is GREAT - hummus, taboule, lamb, chicken, pitas...a wealth of healthy choices!

I think you will find yourself surprised by the CS healthy options available. It is just a question of doing your research before you go. Every park has at least one, often more, CS locations serving fresh, unprocessed food. I have never eaten typical fast food there. Buffets are great in terms of TS as you can pick what you want and there is always an abundance of fresh fruit, salads, breads, fish and some form of grilled protein.

I think it will be easier than you think. Just review menus in advance. I agree the Wave is outstanding. fresh organic, minimal processing etc. Also Sunshine seasons at epcot for counter service as well as morocco. We aspire to eat clean at home and somewhat on vacation but aren't perfect. We have been known to cave for a bag of cheetos, a mickey bar, or popcorn with the yummy fake butter. Even some of the buffets will have good options, not organic, but fresh omelets, fruits, simple fish dishes etc.

We had dinner at Garden Grill - a character meal with Mickey and Chip and Dale. Food was phenomenal and fresh. They even use some produce from Living with the Land. Highly recommend. There were a ton of fresh vegetables. Just stay away from the kids food - that of course was mac and cheese and chicken nuggets. My kids preferred the fresh biscuits, salad, salmon, brussel sprouts, turkey, cranberries and beef.

The buffets are a good place to go. I tried to be good for part of our stay and found plenty of proteins such as roast chicken, salmon, veges all thoughout every buffet we went so it is possible to eat healthful at Disney. Even counter service serves plenty of chicken salads, etc... Even at Ohana they serve the turkey skewers, veges so you could possibly do that one without messing up too badly.

We also try to "eat clean" (LOL, I didn't know there was a term for it). :thumbsup2

For TS, we loved The Wave, Marrakesh and Kouzzina. We had lots of fish, lamb, whole grain (Wave) and nice veggies at those places. There were also some good choices at Boma (good salads, soups, GREAT hummus, some grilled/baked lean proteins, etc) , but I did find the sauce over the salmon too sweet (definitely "sugared") and the place was very loud - not a relaxing dining experience.

For CS, we had good food at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot (a nice salad with pan-seared tuna, and a grilled salmon over whole grains), although there is zero ambiance there. We also had a nice lunch at Columbia Harbor House - there is a hummus sandwich with brocoli slaw on "multi-grain" bread (LOL, my pet-peeve is multigrain bread since it's usually mostly white bread with some additional grains, but this one seemed OK) and a BLT salad that was OK.

For our next trip we are choosing the deluxe dining plan since we plan to eat most of our meals at table-service restaurants.

edit to add: The one CS that we are planning to eat at our next trip is Tangerine Cafe. As pp mentioned, there are some good platter choices.

We, too, eat this this.
Prior trip we loved eating at Fresh at the Dolphin (breakfast MMMmmm) and the hummus/couscous from Tangerine as a quick service option
