Eating breakfast before the 1/2 or marathon?

I'm wondering if any of the resorts will have places open to eat some breakfast before the races? We're staying at the Poly and I'm hoping they will allow room service to run extra early for the events.

What is everyone else doing? I don't need anything heavy, but I want my toast with peanut butter...

I do know that Pop and OKW had food available early both mornings.

Captain Cook's will (should be!) open. I grabbed coffee there before cheering for the Half and some racers were in there grabbing food to eat on their way to the monorail. I have not stayed there so don't know about room service but you should be good with Captain Cooks, drop by on Friday and see when they will open for you :) Otherwise you can grab on your way thru :thumbsup2

ALL Resorts will have some form of food service on both mornings. It will be a limited 'runners' fare with lots of carbie things, juices, water, coffee tea, etc. At the Poly look int he fast food area for service. Most will open sometime between 2 and 3

Note from experience, if there is something you really must have grab it the afternoon before, just in case the cast member with the key sleeps in or the rush that came before you grabbed that's morning's supply.

Not sure about room service ... if it is not offered 24/7 then it will not be offered on race day either.

I'd suggest that you grab something before so you have it in your room. Some folks will bring bagels and pnut butter in luggage. I usually bring my oatmeal packet and will be certain to have it if I want.

I bring the Oatmeal Breakfast Squares (think Oatmeal cookie!) ITA at 2 - 3 am, I dont want to depend on someone else - we''ll have something we can take to go from the night before!

I agree with the others. All the resorts will have something available. I think most (if not all) have the counter service eatery open. I've noticed over the past 2-3 years, Disney has done a better job of coordinating activities for both of those early mornings, including opening the food courts. At 3am, the food courts are definitely bustling. We've stayed at Pop the past two years and there have literally been hundreds of people buying food right before we board the busses.

I would also agree that it would be best to buy something the night before and keep it in your room. One less thing to worry about at 3am race morning.

I am one of those that packs race food in checked bag. Bagels, potatoes, oatmeal. I grab a few bananas a few days before the race at WDW to beat the rush. Nice to relax in DVC and eat instead of chasing food race morning. One less thing to worry about race morning!

I also bring my food with me from home....a couple of bananas and whole wheat mini bagels. I'll have coffee in the room but wait until I'm at Epcot to eat. For me, eating at 3 a.m. is way too early for a 5:40 race start.

I'll just add -- I always have some "recovery" chocolate milk in my fridge for after the race. I just want to go back to my room and "be" for a few minutes, and it's nice to know I have a cold cup of milk and another snack waiting for me. I have been known to enjoy a carrot cake cookie....

Then I'm ready to go out, proudly wear my medal, and enjoy the rest of the day!
