If you are lucky enough to eat at Boma's one night, please try the soups: the chicken corn chowder is very good and that Butternut Squash Soup is to die for! YUM!

We love this restaurant. The atmosphere, the food, the servers, and the storytelling outside after dinner are just one remarkable experience!

I totally agree! Boma is my very favorite place to eat in the World. I've never been an adventurous eater, and I'm not a big fan of soups, but I'm always pleasantly surprised with the soups here. It's hard to get me to move on to the other yummy stations once you get me started on the soups! :teeth:

You sound just like me! LOL I was really nervous the first time we ate there because I like food to be pretty plain plus I didn't know what some of the stuff was! I just tried it anyway! As far as soups go, soup, to me, was only for sick people! LOL But not anymore... :)

I totally agree! Boma is my very favorite place to eat in the World. I've never been an adventurous eater,

My personal disagreement with the second part of this statement is why I can't agree with the first part.

Everyone has their own desires and enjoyments from dinning. But Boma's to me is basically nothing other than a glorified howard johnson's buffet. I love Jikos. It seems to be a common misunderstanding, that Jiko serves food like water buffalo tartar, when in fact they don't. It's food that anyone proably would love (at least something on their menu) whereas Boma's, sadly, their verison of "african" is limited to hummus.
:confused3

I have nothing agaist Boma's per say, the breakfast there is quite good, but if one is looking for a dinning experience, Boma's is "up there" with Peco Bill's in my mind.

Peco's Bills? Really? Well, we'll just agree to disagree. I'd love to try Jiko's but decided that doing a buffet gave me a chance to try several foods. I'd never eaten fou-fou in my life--it gave me the chance to try it. I believe all the WDW resorts put an American flare into the food. But still, comparing it to a counter service type place in MK is *wrong* in my book. However, we all like different things and WDW has something for everyone. Glad you like Jiko!

We actually enjoyed Boma's over Jiko's and that was a surprise. We were expecting to love Jiko's based on the reviews. We are not big buffet eaters, but Boma's is so much better than your standard buffet. Disney doesn't even refer to it as a buffet in their advertising.

We stayed at AKL last year and I was nervous about going to Boma's but the aroma from the restaurant throughout the lobby was heavenly. My DH and I loved it. The service was wonderful, food excellent. They even had fries for my son as that is all he'll eat! I would have to highly recommend.

We have been to Jiko twice for dinner and Boma about 6 times. Jiko is nice, but for me I would choose Boma over it every time. Boma has lots of variety, and that really appeals to us. It helps to spend a few minutes chatting with the chefs, if you are unsure about anything.

We love Boma, too and eat there every trip. The soups are wonderful as are the salads. But the desserts...........I just love the warm banana bread pudding and in December when we were there they had a new praline cheesecake. It was so good!!! :goodvibes I don't think we could visit the AKL without following our noses down to Boma...

I was afraid to post for fear I would be considered an uncultured slob because I love Boma. The soups are wonderful. I crave them. We go to Boma at least once and often twice during a stay. I would love to try Jiko, but I don't think I could get my kids past Bo ma unless I lied and said we could not get a PS.

I think the Pecos Bill comparison is a bit out there. I have always considered myself somewhat a food snob, but if admitting to loving Boma knocks me out of the category, then so be it.

Comparing Boma's to Pecos Bills is a quite the stretch.... :rotfl2:

The Ginger Carrot soup is excellent. I even did the recipe and made my own, although I didn't have the right equipment to make it smooth, but it was still awesome with the little chunky pieces of carrot. I cannot wait to eat there on Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Boma was by far one of my very favorites!! Not only because of the excellent, different foods (ummm....butternut squash soup!!) but also because of the way we were treated there. Chef T.J. made us feel so extremely special. He made our dining experience there one of our most memorable! And we will eat there at least once every trip from here on out! We ate there two nights straight and I could have eaten there the next night had we still been there.

We are staying at AKL in May and I have my "dialing finger" primed to call for my PS this weekend. Boma is THE PLACE that we have been looking forward to for meals. We're going to try both breakfast and dinner! I understand that it's a buffet but there seems to be a huge variety and we are all very adventurous.

Butternut soup sounds fantastic! :cool1:

The great thing about it, fljelad, is the menu changes. I think there are 3 menus so you could eat there more than once and try a few new items!

Please, have some butternut squash soup for me!!

(I made the chicken corn chowder and it was great even at home!)

Love BOMA for the variety of all the appetizers, soups, salads, entrees and deserts. My DH and I are food lovers and will try a wide variety of items, which is just not possible at a traditional sit down place. If our love of BOMA kicks us out of the foodies realm then we are happy to leave.

This is so funny. I have been waiting anxiously to make our PS for Boma during our May trip. I got it, YEAH!!!! Last time we went 2x and I almost made myself ill eating some much of the Butternut Squash soup. It was incredible. And the desserts, OMG ~ not only the zebra domes everyone loves but the mini cheesecakes..is there a drooling smiley??? And hummus isn't the only African dish ~ bobitie and several others. I'm actually glad there are people out there who don't want to go to Boma if word gets out too much about it PS will be hard to come by. :p

Thanks for this post 'cause I plan on eating there. I have always heard good things about it, except for the one post on this thread. Thanks for not scaring me away from it!

I just made a PS for March 22 at Boma! We discoverd it while staying at the AKL last Spring and absolutely love it. One of our favorites! :flower:

We will be staying at AKL in July...do you have to make a Boma PS for breakfast? Should I make any PS for Boma even though we are staying there? Thanks!

We are going to be staying at AKL in May and though this will be our first trip, we have been advised that resort guests do not have a priority for seating Boma and that we SHOULD get a PS for any meal we want to have there.

I'd advise you to do the same!! :sunny:
