Eating Around the World at Epcot

On our Epcot day afternoon, we are hoping to eat around the world. We don't necessarily need to get food from every country, but we're definitely into anything more exotic, things we wouldn't normally get to eat.

We are on the dining plan, and are probably going to split an item (or two at a really tempting restaurant) four ways at each location visited. We plan to use around 4 quick service credits (we can probably spare more) and however many snack credits are needed.

Where should we eat and what should we eat? Is there a better side to start on?

Our tastes:
We are adventurous, even our three year old. I'm pregnant and shouldn't have soft serve, deli meat, soft cheeses (unless sufficiently cooked), or undercooked egg/meat/etc, among other things. I don't like pork or seafood, but my husband and six year old LOVE them, and our three year old will eat pretty much anything except raw greens.

I love the chicken schwarma plate from Tangeriene cafe in Morocco (we are 2 adults and we split one). And we always have to get something from Les Halles in France. I think we have tried everything but our favorites are the cheese plate, tartine aux fromages, and Brie aux pommes.

Mexico: I really love the cheese empanadas and the churro dessert.

Norway: I'm partial to the berry cream puff, though I hear a rumor that it contains alcohol.

Morocco: I also heartily recommend the chicken shawarma platter.

France: I would do terrible things for the Strawberry Tart from Las Halles or the Salted Caramel ice cream from L'Artisan.

I like looking at the list here.

We usually make a plan. When you get there, be sure to pick up a passport. It lists the items. You can also get the passport stamped at each booth. Some of the items are the same as 2015. You can locate some pictures of them on the Disney Food Blog too. Enjoy and have fun.

This list is specific to during the festival - not year round

This is off the top of my head so I would highly recommend you look at menus and since I don't do the dining plan I don't really pay attention to what takes a snack credit but here goes,

Starting with Mexico - the QS is pretty much just about what you would get at any descent local taco joint, nothing exciting. Unless you are going to either one of the TS restaurants I guess I'd just use a snack credit and get a churro.

Norway - They have added some new items to the menu at the QS/bakery there so it's hard to say but I'm not sure any of them are big enough to split 4 ways.

China - again pretty normal Chinese food you can get at home but the QS meals are basically large enough to split

Germany - I've never tried the QS there but they have an excellent caramel store with anything caramel you can think of.

Italy - Again haven't done their QS and am not really sure there are any snack type things there but there is a nice little wine bar that does serve tapas type things and a good cheese plate.

Morocco - I agree with Tangerine Cafe - Can't go wrong with anything on the menu and the QS meals are pretty big.

France - Their QS location is great, loads of things to pick from but you would never go wrong with the ice cream shop for that snack credit

GB - the fish and chips at the QS can be shared no problem.

Berry cream puff sounds delicious! I hope it's preggo safe...

They have empanadas? And a "churro dessert"? Must do more research on this. I usually skip eating in Mexico, because I live in California and have access to pretty great Mexican food.

I have only had the pretzel in Germany. It's been a few years, and I could be wrong, but I don't recall it being a typical Disney pretzel. It was really good!

So you're going to use Quick Service entitlements, correct? 4 QS to feed 4 of you?

I believe in saving the best for last and covering a lot of ground in between.

I'd start in Norway and get a sandwich meal from Kringla. If you get school bread to go for dessert, they will pack it nicely for you. Makes a great breakfast with coffee the next morning. :)

Next, I'd have us in Germany for a sausage sandwich and apple strudel that we would eat there.

After that, we'd get the biggest shawarma platter on the menu at Tangierine Cafe in Morocco and ask them to box up the baklava.

Last, but hardly least, we hit up the QS in France to get quiche, onion soup and a pastry to go. Either the soup or the pastry can be your dessert, and I'd use a snack credit for the other.

All that food plus you'll have school bread, baklava and a French pastry to munch on in your room later or the next morning. :)

All of this sounds so good... plus the berry cream puff from above (I love berries, and x100 while pregnant). I'm glad to hear they'll pack stuff up to go, as I have no idea how we'll use up all of our snack credits otherwise.

So... I did the math on how many credits we expect to use each day, and I am pretty sure we will have AT LEAST 8 QS and AT LEAST 4 snack credits on our last day in Epcot, and it could be as many as 10 QS and 12 snacks, depending on how often we stop for food earlier in the week. I am thinking we will be getting a lot of snacks to go!

@Hope Soda, when we were at WDW in April 2016, we had alot of QS and snacks left because we did 2 days at Universal. At first we didn't eat breakfast because we thought it was a waste of QS credit since breakfast was so cheap. Later in the week we did end up eating breakfast everyday at our resort to to catch up.

If you see any snacks you would like to take home, just get them instead of thinking you'll go back to that snack shop later. That was our biggest mistake. Since we didn't want to carry the snacks, we were going to go back and get them at the end of the night so it'll be easier. We never made it back because by end of the night, we were too tired to go back. Goofy's kitchen at DS had many variety of snacks I wanted but again thought we could find same thing somewhere else so I didn't get them so by end of our trip, we end up getting packaged snacks at our resort to use up all our credits.

Not trying to be a buzzkill here but I just want you to be extra cautious if you're pregnant.. I got food poisoning from China at their egg roll stand so i'd say avoid that if possible!

If their egg rolls have pork or shrimp in them, I wasn't going to eat them anyway. And we may just skip China anyway since I don't really consider Chinese food exotic, and their menu doesn't seem to offer much we've never had before. Also, my 6 year old doesn't really like Chinese food.

But thank you for the warning.

Good advice. Thinking we'll go back later and then getting too tired to do so sounds exactly like something we'd do.

In that case, I'd avoid it whether you're pregnant or not. I am terrified of getting food poisoning on vacation (again). Had it twice (not at WDW) and it's a nightmare.

Like @Hope Soda said, I usually skip China too. I have plenty of Chinese food at home.
