I know this is off topic, but we are going to Columbus to Easton Town Center for DH's work. As far as I can tell, it looks like a giant mall. Part of the conference includes admission to the Columbus Zoo, and we are going to the COSI Museum while we are there (we are members of a local museum that has a partnership with them, so admission is covered.) Any hints or tips about going to Easton?

I will have the two DDs during the day while he is in conferences. It looks like they have a build a bear and I found some coupons for that. Any other free or cheap ideas or something that might be a splurge but is too good to miss? The children's ages are almost 1 and almost 3.

It's been over a year but we used to go there almost every weekend.

They have a couple little outdoor spots to play. They have one of those areas where you walk around on the cement and spouts of water shoot up at you, which is fun for kids.

It mostly is just a big mall. You can go outside from different directions though, it confused me for a long time. They had (for a long time, might still be there) one of those places where you can drop your kids off and they will watch and feed them (you have to pay) if you need a couple of hours to yourself.

There is a lot of food, so check out a map before you pick a place to eat.

Easton is a big mall; most of it outdoors and things are pretty spread out. It's a very nice area. I'd recommend checking out the Easton website. Last summer they had special activities during the summer for kids/families. If I remember correctly, they were fairly frequent. As someone else mentioned, there's a splash pad/fountain that kids play in. There's also a model train that kids like alot. A good place to spend a day. There's a nice AMC theatre there too.

I HIGHLY recommend the Zoo. We moved away last fall and the thing I miss the most is the Zoo. If your 3 year old likes animals, there are tons of hands on experiences. Don't miss the Animal Encounters Village, there are several short shows during the day and MANY one on one encounters with all kinds of cool animals (snakes, flamigoes, alligators, and a few fuzzy critters too). There's also the Animals on Safari show. It's a Joel Slavin production (he's the man who produces Pets Ahoy at Sea World), and fun for all ages.

Have a great time. Columbus is a great city.

I also have nothing but great things to say about the zoo. We have been almost every week since March. My oldest daughter does zoo school there on Thursdays. There are TONS of hands on experience and animal handlers around with critters to pet and touch. Last week there were flamingos running around to pet! Never in my life did I expect to sing a flamingo walking around the zoo!

Easton is pretty close to Gahanna and if you have a car, there is a great park there called Creekside some people like to swim in the creek, and there are always ducks and geese and I've even seen a swan or two there to feed and my kids 2 and 4 love to go there. Also, if you have a car, we live in Westerville(10 min drive) and they just built an amazing park right by our subdivision it is at the corner of Spring and Maxtown and is worth the drive. Perfect for kids your age! :) Have fun! PM me if you want directions to either park from Easton...

AHHH!!!! I can't believe Gahanna is on the DIS!!! I'm a Gahanna grad... TOO FUNNY!!!! Hi Westerville resident! :wave2: My parents still live in Gahanna as do my in-laws. Sis is out in New Albany and I moved out to Pataskala (ok barely... 1 foot oustide of Blacklick :lmao:)

Oh and I agree. :thumbsup2 Easton is a great place with tons and TONS of shopping. It's certainly no Disney... but there are a TON of stores and restaurants.

Another Gahanna person on the Dis right here!!!! Easton now has a Lego store, there is a movie theater, and little fountains that squirt water. Dh and I took our lo to Zoombeezi Bay...its a waterpark attached to the zoo (admission is extra) and she has a blast.

YAY Gtown!!! :goodvibes Talk about annoying construction from Granville St to 270/670 huh?! SHHEEEESH! :rolleyes1 Avoiding at all costs... :rolleyes

I had heard that there was a lego store but I haven't been there yet! And I second the Zoo/Zoombeezie Bay!

Westerville here (well sort of Westerville). Great to see some "neighbors" on the board. I have been lurking for quiet awhile, guess I really needed something to jump start my posting !!

Barnes and Noble is at Easton and they have story times as well. May want to check into that. The zoo is great. There is also an area where you can ride some rides. It is an extra cost, but not too bad. My kids love it.

What a small world! My subdivision is right on the corner of Spring and Maxtown near that new playground! Actually, I should say my old subdivision. We moved to New Albany last month. :)
