Eastern Caribbean in late August

Historically, how is the East Caribbean in late August when it comes to hurricanes? I know you never really know with hurricanes but was curious if anyone has had their cruise altered because of one. I am looking at the 7 night Eastern Caribbean Cruise from August 19-26 on the Disney Fantasy.

If you are the type who gets anxiety that things might change, I'd try to sail outside of hurricane season. Otherwise, get insurance and just know that plans may change as others have said.

I have a lot of travel-related anxiety but more about the getting to my destination. Once my vacation begins, I become a go-with-the-flow-er. LOL

Sooooo here's the only reason I'd insure the cruise...it would be if something would interfere with you getting to the port, like if you're flying in and the airport you fly into is closed due to weather or the one you're flying out of. If for whatever weird reason the sailing is completely cancelled, you'll get your money back. Once you're on the ship, they'll change the itinerary if they have to.

I agree with this. The odds of your cruise getting cancelled are pretty low (and if DCL cancelled, you'd get well compensated for that). That would really only happen if the ship couldn't get in or out of Port Canaveral (which did happen to the Wish last September after Ian came through). It's much more likely your itinerary could be altered, either right before you sail or during your sailing. They can sail around hurricanes. Insurance would really only be needed for your travel to port, if for some reason you couldn't get to Florida and then missed the cruise.
