:cheer2: Well, it's finally official! They announced summer 2008 today and if luck is on my side my two sons and I will be on the August 2008 Panamal Canal Repo cruise...bringing home the Magic!

When we sail I (Gina) will be 37, Hayden will be 15.5 and Jensen will be 12.5. I have already met several other single or solo parents that hope to be on the Eastbound repo and I thought it would be fun to get to know others that might be cruising alone with their kids (or grandkids or nieces/nephews).

Perhaps we could match up for Palo ressies? Or do some group shore excursions or?? :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2

I'm LaTanya

I'm pretty sure my son and I will be on this cruise.

I'll be 40 then (my 39th birthday was yesterday:eek: )
My son Tyreak, will be 16

Thanks for starting this thread:cheer2:

Bumping along looking for more solo/single parents....:rolleyes1

Hi All!

Hope to be on this cruise too. I'm Tina and my dd Kaitlin. She will be 10 and I'll be 48 (just barely!)

It would be great to hook up with others to go to Palo. I feel a bit weird going there alone. Last year on the Wonder, I did a wine tasting there but that was it.

I can't decide.:confused3

When I emailed DU, I requested a cat. 11. After researching, I'm thinking of going for a cat. 9 or 6. I need to make up my mind soon so that I can email them the change.:surfweb:

Thanks for the link over LaTanya. Never would have found it if someone on the main thread hadn't mentioned it.

I'll be traveling with my son, Trevoy, who will be 2 weeks shy of 13 on the cruise. My name is Monica and I will be woefully close to 40.

I love the idea of getting together for Palo ressies. I was going to do it alone, but it certainly would be more fun to dine with others. Although my parents are thinking about booking, I honestly think they will back down when they see the cost.

We're DL AP holders so we'll definitely be doing DL for a few days before the cruise, and probably a few days at WDW to end it all.

Thanks for starting this thread! I'm so jazzed about this cruise and God willing, we'll be there with bells on! When we sail, I'll be 49+ (we can leave it at that for now :rolleyes1 but yes, I did wear hippie beads when I was a tween :hippie: ) and my DS will be 12 (turns 13 November 08).

I've asked DU to reserve a Cat 6 for us (with certain budgetary restrictions). If the Cat 6 is too much for us, we'll go with a Cat 9. C'mon, Wednesday!

BTW, my name is Ellen and my son is Ben. Once we're booked and the deposit is accepted, I'll tell him. I'm so glad to see that there are other single moms on this cruise.

Let the planning begin!

Well, tomorrow is the big day!

Pixie dust to all that we get the category we want at a price that leaves us money to still buy groceries and pay bills for the next 18 months!

Can't wait to see where we all landed tomorrow evening!

Best of luck, everyone!

:wizard: :wizard: good luck everyone

I wish DCL would have released the prices early. It's driving me nuts not knowing how much everything will cost.

I don't care if we have to eat beanie weanies for the 18 months, we're getting on that ship!:sail: :sail:

Well, I put my faith in a travel agent and the bottom fell out. No cabin and the ship is sold out. What kills me the very most is that at 9:00 AM Pacific time I went on DCL's site and there were plenty of categories available but I didn't want to be one of those "ressie hogs" so I logged out after getting the price.

Went to work confident that I would hear from my travel agent as promised but it's 9:30 PM Pacific time and not a word. The ship sold out while I was at work. I HATE it when I try to do the right thing and it ends up biting me in the @$$!!!!

I hope that you all got your ressies and that this thread will continue even if I am no longer joining you all. Send me a postcard and have a drink of the day for me, OK?

Take care,
Gina

So sorry to hear that. I also had a TA getting my reservation. I was getting pretty ticked watching everyone else talk about booking something even though they were waiting on a TA or IC. I finally got an email from my TA shortly after 2pm PST and she was able to get us what we wanted.

Maybe she did get you something, but is so overwhelmed she hasn't sent you anything? Did you try emailing her to find out what's up?

I'm pretty confident things will open up in a few days, but not sure how that will fit in your budget.

:grouphug:

I was hoping to join you but after finding out that I spent 4+ hours on hold for nothing...................

Yes I did get a booking online but I could have gotten Tier 1 pricing if I had actually been in queue! Yes I'm bitter! I was doing this all on my own, no TA and myself. I am waiting to hear back from DCL and IC to see what they are going to help with. I really wanted to be sailing with my friends but at what cost! Especially since it wasn't my fault that I was in limbo and they only thought after 4+ hours to dissconnect me to find out my number to call me back and apologize! I hope they do right by all of us that got stuck in "On Hold Limbo!" Apologizes don't put food on my plate! Luckily my DD15 is being understanding but I know that she wants to sail with friends from before and really is trying to be mature about it!

I couldn't stop crying yesterday and still get teary eyed everytime I think about it! At least I did this from work and did not lose out on a days pay too!
