My husband and I will be arriving very late on Dec. 1st and going to the Anabella Hotel/Motel by airport shuttle.
Can anyone please tell me what is the best way to get groceries if you do not have a rental car?
Is there a grocery store that is walking distance or a quick cab ride away?
We just want to get some water and snacks/breakfast stuff to have on hand at the hotel and for going into Disney.

We will be at the same place...but on the third. Can't wait to see the answers to this. What shuttle are you using? We are still deciding. I am getting SOOOOO excited!!

If you think you'll spend more than $50, you can get Vons to deliver them to you. As a first-time user, delivery is free. Just go to www.vons.com and select Grocery Delivery (at the top of the page). We've done that each trip and it was totally easy!

If you don't think you'll buy $50 worht of groceries, there's a 7-Eleven at the corner of S. Harbor and W. Katella. That's a little less than a half mile from your hotel.

We're getting super excited too.
I'm not sure what the shuttle is called but I booked it at the same time as the trip. It was about $30 per round trip. I hear it takes a while to get to the hotel because it goes to other hotels as well but the price was right. We're flying into LAX. Where are you flying into?
Thanks for the info about the grocery delivery. I'll check it out. Is there an actual grocery store any where close to where we're staying? I doubt 7/11 will have too much and the hubby seems to want to actually go to the store.

Well, if you do decide you want to rent a car for a day (or half a day), there's a National/Alamo just down the street on Katella. It's immediately next to Alpine Inn. We rent a car now, because we just love having the ability to get groceries, go to dinner, etc. We always go to Trader Joe's and Vons. (and on a longer trip we'll go to our Weight Watchers meeting) And now we've discovered Souplantation, as well as Panera so my son's mac&cheese cravings can be satisfied, LOL.

Oh, and the Alamo/National at Alpine has a shuttle.

The 7/11 is pretty well stocked. They carry flats of water, and have hot food too.

There is also a Food 4 Less about a mile west of the Anabella you can walk to.

What about a bus or a shuttle?
Hate to rent a car for just part of a day.
Maybe even a taxi I guess.

I'm assuming Food for Less is a grocery store?
That's great. We can even take a taxi there if we don't feel like carrying everything that far.
Thanks everyone for all the great info!!
Appreciate it!! Only 9 more days till our first ever Disney trip! Yahooooo!!!

Vons... (Safeway) is a very short Taxi ride away, also near by is a Walmart, .
As some else posted you can get them to deliver to your hotel. We stay at the WorldMark on Katella and it costs about $6. one way.. in a taxi.

If you get a cab, remember they will keep the meter running while you're shopping and depending on how long you shop, between the fare there, the fare back, and the meter running while shopping, you would probably just have even better off meeting the $50 minimum for free delivery! You could take a cab there, have them drop you off, then shop, then call another cab to pick you up at Von's when you're done. Whatever seems best for you.

If you should decide to go with Vons, check with your cc company. Some Canadians have had difficulty getting the website to accept them.

Food For Less is a Kroeger owned grocery store.

How far in advance do we need to place the order at Von's?

Also, how tight is the delivery window? Will we be stuck waiting at the hotel for hours?

Thanks!

The delivery windows are available to be scheduled about a month ahead. I ususally book it early so I can get the window of time I want.

You can have very tight windows (1 hour) or up to 4 hours, depending on how specific you want to be. Check with your hotel - many of them will sign for them and hold them for you if you aren't in your room. Some only have issue with that if you are ordering alcohol.
