I know there used to be a boat between the two, but it isn't running (I wish it were). What is the easiest, quickest way to get from WL to CR? And a good estimate on how long it would take?
Boat or bus to MK, then walk to CR. The actual rides from WL to MK aren't long, nor is the walk, but the waits are unpredictable, so I personally would allow at least an hour and would hope it turned out to be less.
As recently as within the last week or two, I've read posts from people there stating that it still had not started running again since the pandemic closure. If you have knowledge that it has restarted, please confirm - you would make many people very happy!

Ask the Disney Springs bus driver if his next stop is the Contemporary. I know they usually share the route. If you take the boat to MK and then walk, you have to go through security.
We were just at the Wilderness last Saturday Mar 26 and the boat was not running between Wilderness & Cont. We took the boat to MK which ppl said comes every 10 min. Quick ride over, and we walked to Cont although you could also take the monorail there as it is the first stop!
All of the Disney Springs buses from WL stopped by Contemporary first (before continuing to DS) on our trip this past week. That would be the quickest in my opinion.
Yes, it is too bad. Wilderness Lodge wasn't in the original site plans, and the designers of the underpass beneath the Seven Seas Lagoon to Bay Lake connector waterway didn't make it wide enough to accommodate a safe pedestrian walkway there. When runDisney races take World Drive, it's closed to vehicles.
