On the trip now and we tried Saratoga and a one bedroom at bay lake. We may never go back!!

Developing . . .

That's the beauty of DVC...so many different resorts..each special in their own way!pixiedust:

Can't wait to hear more. On a happy note, if you have fallen in love with SSR, it's always easy to get reservations there!

So DD and I took a trip to Saratoga Springs for a few nights - DH joined us at the end of the trip for a night at BWV and a night at BLT. I was a tad worried about staying at SSR because it seems so far "out there" and I'm not really into DTD. Wow- I was so silly to have been concerned. We requested a room (studio) near the walkway to DTD and got it! In Congress Park right on the little trail. Our days consisted of:

waking up late
fooling around on our computers / ipads
going to the pool (usually the rock springs but we tried out almost all of them)
grabbing a bite at arist's palette
resting in the room until around 5pm
striking out on our adventures

We usually stay at BC or BW because we love walking into Epcot or HS and I really thought I would miss it. Well, what I found was that I LOVED walking into DTD and browsing the shops - then hopping on whatever bus struck our fancy. A couple of times we boarded the Contemp / Poly bus and wandered the resort - exploring and grabbing a bite. We also hitched a ride on the BW / BC bus, doing the same and also visiting Epcot. It was SO FUN! Very liberating - no plan, just winging in.

SSR is a wonderful resort. Extremely relaxing. It's very large and once we got our heads around that fact, we loved it. The pools are terrific (the waterslide at the Paddocks pool gets a special shout out). Artist's Palette was really good and they take Tables!! I don't typically like to take buses everywhere but somehow just being able to walk into DTD and THEN take a bus makes everything okay. I realize that makes no sense but it's working for me ha! I think when Disney Springs is done it will be incredible! It's fabulous because you can basically always get a ressie there as well. I was completely surprised and pleased at how much we both adored our stay. Super laid back. Will definitely go back.

When DH arrived we headed to Boardwalk to a one bedroom. The extra space was wonderful! And we had a really cute corner room with a larger than usual master bedroom. We did our usual wandering and Epcot-ing. Didn't hit HS but then again there was Star Wars Weekends going on so it was super crowded. Had a meal at Marrakesh - still love that place. Spent some time on the beach at BC / YC - DD went to Sandcastle Club which she thinks is fantastic. Was a great one night stay but it's our usual so not much more to say . . . then off to Bay Lake.

Hit BLT in a one bedroom standard view. Our room was ready early. We were in the pool area (super cute but small-ish) when they pinged us that the room was open. Whoa! We were on the ground floor right near the part of the building next to the docks and the Contemp. Normally DH does NOT like ground floor units but this was marvelous! The living area was HUGE. I was in heaven being able to look at the boats / water / Contemp / monorail. It was possibly the best room we've EVER had at Disney - and this is a standard view room! I could go on and on but suffice to say, it's a whole new world in my eyes. In the old days, you'd have to PULL me out of BW or BC but now I have new loves!! That is the cool magic of being in DVC - you really do get to experience so many different types of places. All wonderful.

I really need to add to this TR - hopefully I will be able to chat about our lovely meals at various places, late night MK, getting completely soaked on a boat ride to WL, and much more - just wanted to lay out the basics on the different resorts. What a great great trip!!!!

We just got back from a stay at SSR and having stayed at AKL and BLT, I just knew I was going to be disappointed and boy was I wrong! We loved SSR!

I don't own at SSR but glad you enjoyed your stay here. I was also pleasantly surprised when I stayed here for the first time a few years ago. I have stayed here three times total. I was a bit worried since it does not always get great feedback. Everyone really needs to try them all. We are in that boat.

It's great that we have choices and there really is one for everyone or many for everyone. I love all the themes and each resort feels like a different vacation for us. I miss all the other ones regardless of where we are staying. It's more about the resorts now than the parks - so we spend more and more time there.

The only time I really want a specific resort is for F & W.

Thank you for sharing.

SSR was my first WDW stay that was not at BC- after buying DVC. I remember feeling the same way as you did- it made the vacation new and gave it a totally different vibe. I have since gone on to stay at, and truly appreciate and enjoy, all of the other DVCs (except VGF- trying to put that in somewhere!) and can I just say, I hope you will keep trying out all the DVC flavors- they ALL have something to offer, I think (including the ones not at WDW :)). Glad you enjoyed your vacation!
