Hi all,

Planning to book our first trip to wdw today. Originally wanted to go at the end of September but DH work won't let anyone take time off (freshers week at university). So the choice we have is either 4th-15th September or 2nd to 13th October 2017. There is no difference in price so could I have anyone's experiences going at these times? Thanks!:hyper:

Personally I prefer the start of October. It's still hot, but not so draining as the humid summer and you are likely to get less rain, although this is always in the hands of the weather Gods.
The Food and Wine Festival will be on at Epcot - always a big plus for me.
I'm not sure about crowds, possibly a little busier in October, but still not too bad I would have thought.

I'd pick the beginning of October too.
Normally good weather, food & wine & Halloween are big pluses for us as the parks are really fun & there's lots to see (& eat!)
There is a national holiday weekend (Columbus day) in the states around the end of your October dates so the parks will get busier around then.

I always go start of september and the crowds are very low :) Depends on what you want to do whilst there really, as others say the food and wine festival is on at end of sept beginning of oct :) x

we go the beginning of September and the crowds are lower and you still get to do Mickey's not so scary & the Halloween decorations are up.

Our first visit we chose the beginning of September. We were surprised by the crowds being lower than we had anticipated. You will get to the Halloween party even in early September (if you wanted tickets bought separately) which I recommend, the decorations are great, and the Halloween parade & fireworks are fantastic!

For this trip we decided to do September again because we really enjoyed it last time.

weather is better in october, but the crowd level in early september can't be beat!!
so i would probably go for early september..

Thanks all, just hope there's no hurricanes in the pipeline for next September..
:thumbsup2
We aren't too fussed about f&w because DH wouldn't try half the food there but planning on doing Halloween parties :hyper:

will there be halloween parties then?
if not, i'd go for october then....
there are fun after all!
as for hurricanes....you never know....we've been hit by them many times ....
in the end, it didn't impact on our fun, though it definitely caused changes in plans!!
and made for some very very very very very very scary flights!!!!!!!! and one pretty darn scary cruise (hurricane Sandy)!!!!!!!!!!!!

There should be Halloween parties we were going 4th-15th and I'm sure I've read the were starting quite early this year. I mean I love freaky weather but I doubt I'd ever cancel because of it, much rather be in Disney rather than work haha

wow, so many typos in my last post...
anyway, i'm trying to remember when the earliest party was when we went....maybe sept 12th?
if the parties are really important to you, then i would choose october when they're a sure thing...
regarding hurricanes and disney, there isn't a safer place to be than a disney resort during a hurricane..
those buildings are built to withstand tornadoes....so you're in good hands!
back in 1995 (i think that was the year), i was there on my own with the two kids (DD was 10 and DS was 8)..
a hurricane hit WDW - which is kind of unusual, since WDW is so far inland, hurricanes usually are pretty mild by that point.
but this was a good one..
they didn't open the parks in the morning...it was the first time WDW didn't open...
all through the night, the resort kept updating us...calling to let us know what was happening...and to check if we were ok..
the storm was brutal outside....all through the night...
we were staying in the all star music that year....just the 3 of us, for 3 weeks...
it was scary, but the resort was great at how much they kept checking on us by phone to see if we were ok...
i wouldn't hesitate to ride out a storm there again...
now the cruise during hurricane sandy wasn't nearly as reassuring!!!!!!!!! :)

There is a high chance the Halloween parties will be on during your dates. There were a number of Halloween parties on when we were there in 2014. This year, the first party is on 2nd September.

If the 4th-15th were your dates for going this year, you would have had 3 parties to choose from:

  • September 08, 2016
  • September 11, 2016
  • September 13, 2016

Thought it was starting early this year. Probably would try and get a mid week party hoping that it wouldn't be sold out :shamrock:
