I am trying to plan my next trip, and was wondering which dates would you pick. The whole family is going, DH, DS (12), DD (4) and FIL(66). One of the other consideration is which do you think is better MNSSHP or MVMCP?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Instead of going in early September, I would say go in late September cuz all the kids are in school, but if I had to pick one of your dates I would say late October. The only thing about then is more people are there for MNSSHP. I have never attended either MNSSHP or MVMCP, so I can't comment on that.

Our family (me, DH, DS3 and DD14mo) went Sept. 7-12, 2008. The crowds were low and the humidity and heat were high. I did OK, but the kids absolutely melted each time we stepped of of the AC. We ALL needed a mid day break and a change of clothes.

We just returned (DS now 4 and DD 2.5) Dec. 11-18. The crowds were low (one day was a 7 another a 6 rest were 4's & 5's) and the weather was actually great! We had some days of 70's and 3 days of mid 80's! I really enjoyed MVMCP!

Based on my 2 experiences I'd go with Dec over Sept. That being said I'd like to plan my next trip for mid/late Oct to do MNSSHP!

HTH! :wizard:

thanks for the advice!!

I am really torn between the MNSSHP and MVMCP; we have never done the MNSSHP? Yet I like September with the Free Dining program

Would appreciate any more opinions.

We went in end of October 2007 for DS birthday and MNSSH. We had a great time. Crowds were low and weather was great. I enjoyed seeing all the Halloween costumes and DS enjoyed trick or treating Disney style. I want my next trip to be during MNSSH, but I don't want to take DS out of school.
I have not gone to MVMCP, but of course I hear wonderful things about that too.

I have been there for early Sept as well as late Sept into Oct.
I would go with the late Sept into Oct option. Less crowds, great weather, food and wine fest, fall decorations are up.

We had gone once the first two weeks in October. I HATED it. It was hotter/more humid than our usual time in May and it poured every day. The parks were crowded and I really wasn't all that impressed with MNSSHP. Don't get me wrong, the kids had fun (they were 7, 5, & 1 at the time) and I'm glad we did it...but I will not go back in October ever again.

I'm so sorry you had a tough time in October. We are planning for Sept/October too, but don't know when, I didn't even think about the rain--thanks for the heads up.

In 2008 we went Oct. 19-25th & in 2009 we went Sept. 24th- Oct. 3 & we really had no problems with the rain either time. There were a few showers here & there but mostly they only lasted minutes & the sun was back out. Funny thing is, we lucked out & were on indoor rides during the couple of real downpours. I do know I've done some checking & the rates are lower in September than later Oct., Nov, & Dec.

We have gone in September, October and December. September can indeed be very hot and sometimes even rainy but we've never had such cold weather as we did in October and December. The crowds are always very low in September but again, depending on when you go in October or December you could find yourself in lines.... a lot!!! We just came back from a trip the first week of December and #1 we froze, and #2 the crowds were unbelievable!!! We've been down in October and gone to MNSSHP and ended up covering up our costumes with coats and gloves!! This year, they set record high temps one week and were in the 90's and then it crashed down to have temps in the 40's!! Since we're AP holders and DVC members we fly down several times a year, EVERY year, and we know better than to stand in line for TTA and yet this December when we were down, the line for the people mover was growing by the minute and headed down to Space Mountain !!!! :scared1: Sorry, but never again for us in December. October, yes as long as it's earlier in the month and September would be best later in the month for a break from the heat. :hippie:

This year, we've chosen the last week of September. :yay: First weekend of F&W fest and there will be several MNSSHP dates.

The BEST vacation I ever had was the week after school started (2nd week) in September. Yes, it was hot, but we WALKED ON every ride we rode (with the exception of Space Mountain, which was about a 10 minute wait). We went on every ride there was at least twice (the favorites more than that) in all 4 parks and was only there for 5 days.

My DD is older now, so we can't go during school, but truely that was the best time for no lines.

Whenever you go, I hope you have a wonderful time!!

Late October-nice weather, food & wine festival.
My second choice would be early December to see the Christmas decorations.
