hi-we are considering changing our dec ressies to may 5th for 8 nights.
I have a few questions for you experts...
-what is the temp like?
-how are the crowds?
-what impact will the may 5 celebration have?
thanks- :wave2:

I planned my vacation (4/30-5/7) last summer not knowing there was going to be a huge celebration. I wanted to get in one last trip before my princess princess: starts kindergarten. (We went one week later 2 years ago and the parks were near empty!)

I'm also concerned that the parks are going to be too crowded when we get there. I called last week hunting for discounts codes and the CM said it wasn't looking too bad, but what else are they going to say!

This question is posted a lot. Everyone seems to think it will definitely be busier than a typical May, but who knows to what extent. I am personally expecting it to be pretty busy with all the advertising and hype about the celebration. It also seems a lot of people want to come the week after May 5th, in particular. Hotels are certainly not vacant--but schools are still in session.

We are going May 10 through May 15. There's no telling what the crowds will be with the celebration kicking of the week before. I'm not too worried, though...it may be higher than a typical May, but I don't think it'll be like the summer months.

Even if it is jam-packed, there are ways to maximize your time in the park. You can get to the parks in the morning when they open and use fastpass.

I have heard the weather in May is hot but not unbearable...maybe in the 80's...

Hi Vikame,

Average temperatures in Orlando for May 5-13 shows highs in the upper 80s and morning lows in the mid 60s. Last year there was just a trace of rain in that time frame, and over the last three years there has been very little rain in early May.

One impact the celebration will have is that Epcot is closing to the public at 3:PM on May 5th for a press event/party.

Also, I'm guessing that Mother's Day weekend will draw a lot of people to the Epcot brunch and Flower and Garden Festival.

Hope this helps,

Bob
