I got earlier flights and now I need an extra 4 nights... I have 3 kids 4, 6 and 8, so a great pool would be amazing (we are from Idaho and this will be the first swimming of the year for them).

I don't care if it is close to WDW or not as we won't be in the parks at that point, I just need a great pool (slides definitely, lazy river would be a plus).

I checked WBC but Vacation Strategy was fully booked (some cheer competition is in town). Any suggestions? Bonus points for a kitchen but I will make do if the pool is epic.

Look on ebay for WBC, also tugbbs, and redweek as many people snap up reservations to sell.

Orange Lake Resort sounds like a good choice for you. Lots of pools.

A great resort next to Universal is Cabana Bay. Great pools and activities. Citywalk, etc.

I checked on all of the above for WBC :( Most are missing the night of 5/5. I'm going to keep checking back with Vacation Strategy, the guy said there's a cheer competition but he expects some cancellations as some of the teams won't make it.

On Orange Lake, looks great! Any leads on best place to book? Direct or third party?

Cabana Bay is really cool as well, but the kitchen wins out for me if we can get Orange Lake (we are gluten free and it makes things so much simpler for me to cook).

I have not stayed at Orange Lake but it is on my short list to stay at maybe someday.

IIRC the info I have read here on DIS

has been that there is a charge for inner tubes for use on the lazy river

and *personal tubes are not allowed*

For more info try a search on DIS "Orange Lake Resort Thread"

I'm not a fan of resort fees etc but if the place is fun I might give it a try.

Vacation Strategy has other timeshares too . . . Orange Lake is listed

in their Orlando Collection

Aside from the suggestions already provided, the following have above average pools:

That is 'The Summit' and is like the season grand finale... the teams will make is as fees are paid well in advance.

So probably no cancellations then? I'm looking at tent camping at the Fort as an option at this point :D

There are always cancellations, you just have to keep looking, but have a backup plan in place.
I ended up booking at the Fort, we are planning on doing extended tent camping there in January anyway, so this will be a nice dry run.
