I took my 13yo daughter on a 4 day trip to Universal studios Jan 4 - 7. We got a PTP 3-day pass. We did not buy a fast pass. The busiest day was Thursday Jan 5 - shoulder to shoulder in HP World by 11am. We enjoyed both parks, but spent most time at Islands of Adventure.
My 13yo loved HP World and Jurrasic Park (said she liked Jurrasic park slightly better than HP, but she loves dinos...). As an adult, I enjoyed all the themes and thought all areas were very enjoyable.
Rides: DD said Rip Ride Rock-It was scary when going up at 90degrees, but fast and fun. Her fav was the blue "dragon" coaster in HP world - rode it many, many times. She also thought the Incredible Hulk coaster was good. I thought the 2 water rides were great: Popeye and Blutos rapids ride - the wettest water ride I've ever been on without being at a water park and Jurrasic park - the end is very wet, especially if the "boat" is full.
HP Forbidden Journey ride - pretty fun, thought the ride focused on the giant spiders too much considering they do not represent half the books, but seemed to represent half the ride. Overall fun, but I really loved everything leading up to the ride itself. There is a lot to look at throughout the waiting areas. We only waited 20 minutes, so this was actually a problem - it was hard to really see everthing in the castle since the employees were rushing everyone through the line to the front. Don't get me wrong....I was thankful to not wait 2 hours in line....
Was an excellent place to enjoy some mom-daughter time with a young teen.
