Will a Magicband+ work as "proof" for early entry? Or is it only the room key/digital room key that works?

I tried emailing Disney with that question and got an automated response back that they could not help me with my question LOL

They open the main gates and turn styles at 7.15am.

Everyone gets their ticket scanned, people who have early entry AND people who dont. You can use your Magicband to scan at the entrance gates.

Everyone will walk into Main Street and up to the Hub.

At The Red Wagon, Plaza Gardens, there will be CM's directing early entry people to the roped entrance at Plaza Gardens. Everyone else goes straight to the Hub.

At Plaza Gardens, CM's check room keys, they have a hand held scanner.

At Disneyland California, the Magicbands are not connected to the hotel, you can not use them to open your room door and your payment card is not linked.

Thank you! I appreciate the details... this is exactly what I was looking for.

Just trying to decide if it's worth the $$ for my whole family to have them (or just stick with the kids). We love having them at WDW, but using it to open rooms and charge makes them very convenient.

They aren't NECESSARY, but they can be worth it to many people (me included). I often travel solo or with non-family members and I go relatively often. Not having to get my phone out and ready to scan is worth the $29 I paid for the MG+.

Now, if you are talking about buying them for the whole family, that's a different story.

Just as a fun fact, I don't think men realize that women's pockets are usually WAAAAAAAY smaller than men's. I find it incredibly awkward to carry my phone in my pocket and I'd be afraid of losing it. Having to get your phone it in and out of a purse or pack all day makes the money spent on a MB+ seem well worth the cost to me.

This is my opinion but Magic bands are not worth the expense at Disneyland.

I disagree.

I used the Magicband for the first time this year at Disneyland. I loved it. I am solo and I am constantly using the App the whole time. Using the Magicband to scan into the parks and redeem lighting lanes was way fast. Just tapping my wrist as I walked past the scanner, instead of having to come out of the page I was on in the App, swipe to fine the barcode, put my phone onto the ledge and then take it out, and then having to go back into the page I was in the App, at the same time as walking into the ride.

Ive lost count of the amount of times I could literally scoot past a family faffing about with phones at the scanners, and just stretch my arm out and tap and go.

I also love the unexpected buzzing and lights in some of the rides and at Fantasmic, World of Color and Castle fireworks / projections.

I have also now used the same Magicband on Disney cruise. On the cruise it opened the room door and I could use it in shops and bars, very similar to how it is in WDW. It was so much easier to again just tap and go with my wrist. I needed my KTTW card for the port security but I was able to use the Magicband when scanning on and off the ship. So much easier than the lanyard.

I agree, I believe it's worth the expense. Try to find some on sale for $30 or under.

They can be used multiple times over the course of years. They can also be used at WDW and DCL. We have already used ours on 3 trips.

For me, the worthiness comes down to being the planner for my entire family of four and sometimes my parents also come. People can break off and do different things and I've set up their LL for them and their tickets are on their wrist.

I am on my phone enough doing LLMP. Not having to also take it out to scan into LL or enter the parks is worth the cost to me. Holding my wrist up and having the scanner turn green, without fumbling around with my phone or swiping tickets (which I find to be difficult to do on the app) is like nirvana!

I will say that I defintiely prefer it compared to the phone, though at DL previously I liked scanning my paper ticket. I hate fumbling with the phone, though I seem to be in the minority regarding that these days.

I am definitely getting MBs for our three adults in December. Last time we went my adult daughter was in charge of the Disney App and LL's and she was so sick of taking out her phone opening up the LL reservation page and then scrolling though our tickets to check us in at the rides. This year we will all just sail through the LL check ins and then we can just be on our phones to book now ones.

I don't know...I see a lot of others mentioning what a pain it is to constantly have to get out your phone and find what you need, me included!

I think having an MB+ is worth it if you visit WDW as well as DLR. At WDW they do so much more and are well worth the cost. At DLR (from what I can see) all you can do is scan in at the turnstile and at LL entry points. Or I guess I might get one just for DLR if I visited multiple times a year, then I'd feel I'd gotten my money's worth.

I'm not planning to go to DLR until possibly next year or the year after. I'll just use the MB+ I got at WDW earlier this year. I (obviously) haven't swapped it from WDW to DLR but I understand it's pretty simple to do.

PS, last visit to DLR in 2022 I just used the paper ticket to scan in for LLs. Tucked it an outer purse pocket, easy out & back in. Much easier than fumbling with my phone. Sometimes the 'old fashioned way' works best.

One thing we found helpful with MB, is that if some of your party are booked for another ride they only need MB to get on. If you had 1 phone controlling everything then you'd have to accompany them to board the ride and then return to whatever you were doing. Also found that the younger kids who don't have phones had a small sense of control by scanning their bands on the way onto the ride. We only recently bought MB for DLR so minimal use I guess compared to WDW but would totally get them again.

If we are a minority, we're a vocal one!

I worked in Silicon Valley for years and am very competent with a smartphone, but it isn't the best tool for every situation. I, too, don't like having to get it out of my purse for one thing after another. I think a MB+ would be worth it to me even for one DL trip. (Although I completely understand people for whom it wouldn't be.)

They can also be used for Photo Pass. That's where they are most convenient for me. I put everything down when the photographer takes my photo. After the photo, it is a pain to rummage for my phone and pull up the screenshot of the Photo Pass code for them to scan. With a MB, I stick out my arm, pick up my bags and go.

Wait, I was under the impression you couldn't use the same MB's at both WDW and Disneyland (something about there being two different types?), has that changed now? Like, if I were to buy a MB to use on a trip to WDW, would it work at DL too?

Magicband+ works at both DL and WDW. Old WDW Magicbands DO NOT work at DL.

Yes, if you buy a Magicband+ it will work at both DL and WDW and can be reused so long as the rechargeable batteries keep working.

I've used mine 3 times already over multiple years!
