Early Entry while staying onsite

I am looking at booking Paradise Pier through Orbitz and then purchasing my tickets separately through either Orbitz or Cheaptickets. It has been awhile since I stayed onsite. If I do this, how are my tickets attached to my hotel stay so I can take advantage of early entry every morning? Does your room card/key still act as the way to identify you as staying onsite?

You just need to show your room key, where tickets are purchased does not matter.
