Looks like there's no early entry on Friday July 17. This is good news for me since I wouldn't have been eligible anyways.

There is, however, early entry, on Saturday July 18. Would the park be so crowded that we should plan on sleeping in and starting the day at DCA??? I was planning on starting the day at Disneyland, heading over to DCA at park open and then back over to Disneyland for a while and then back over to DCA for dinner and MSEP.

Thanks

I would go ahead to Disneyland anyway - you can always at least grab a FP! I have always found it not to get really crowded over there until 11ish, EE or not.

Magic Morning (not called Early Entry anymore) is on Sat, Sun, Tues, and Thurs, for your info!

MM only opens Fantasyland and parts of Tomorrowland. If you want to go *there* you'll have lines. So instead, go to Adventureland and ride Indy walk-on easily, while the MM people are stuck in their lines for their last times on Peter Pan/Buzz/etc. OK maybe you can run over and snag a FP for Space if you want, but for us, Adventureland and Frontierland are the lands to be in, for the first hour after MM when we aren't part of MM!

And be at the gates by 7:30 to make sure you're among the first in for normal opening.

Unlike WDW, at DLR MM does not majorly affect the crowds at that park for that day. The only rides that are open for MM are those in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. So even if you arrive at 8, you can be first in line for the rides on the other side of the park (Indy, Big Thunder, Splash, etc.). Then hop over to DCA when you want. :thumbsup2

I wondered what effect MM would have on crowds also - I read somewhere that non MM days were less crowded but I bought The Unofficial Guide 2009 last week (only going in 2010 but couldn't wait for the new one to be published) and it says that Tuesday and Thursdays are good days to go to the parks - which is right?

Both. And neither. ;)

Bottom line is as DLR29 put it. Do not let MM affect whether or not you go to DL that day. Just let it affect how you tour DL knowing there will be extra folks in the park an hour early and where they are allowed to be.

I personally have not heard of extra crowds at DL on MM days. If there are, it is nowhere near the extra crowds you see at WDW and for practical purposes crowd patterns for MM can be ignored at DL.
