Got an e-mail from Universal stating:
"Enjoy Exclusive Early Park Admission
Stay one step ahead of the action and enter Universal Studios to ride Shrek 4-D prior to park opening. This exclusive offer is valid on MOndays, Wednesdays and Fridays for travel Dec. 10,2004 through Jan. 7, 2005."
It seems it's part of the stay and play package.

Cool! We were at US/IOA in July and bought the FOTL passes and LOVED them! We were so disappointed that it didn't include Shrek 4D. The line was always WAY too long!! I'm sure it will be again the week of Christmas! Oh well! I guess I'll have to wait until next year!

The best solution is to stay at an on site hotel. Just show your room key at Shrek and go right in the special entrance. Express on Shrek is only for on site guests.

I've never seen people get into the park early. It's more of an advertising gimmick if you ask me. And that early in the morning, you really don't need it. You'll get into the first show if you're standing at the gate when the park opens. On real busy days, they open the park 15-30 minutes early.

I have seen this for the Mummy. You will receive a special letter that you will be asked to bring and show at the turnstiles. You need to go to the far right or north (for those that have a compass) turnstile where a special attendant will collect your letters. The Mummy letter holders got in about 20 minutes before the 15 minute early opening. This would be enough time to experience Shrek in a nearly empty theater and get out just about when everyone else is coming in. Not much of a jump but a jump. Its always good to get Shrek out of the way early. They are going to open another theater for Shrek which should help restore express passes by doubling the throughput.

It is an advertising special and, yes, you do get in before anyone else. My son had to be at work a half hour early on the days that they did this for the Mummy this summer.

wow how cool!:Pinkbounc we'll be there from 9th december to 13th!:)

We were at Universal Studios this past week and was able to use our on site room key for all of the rides except Friday they would not honor it for Shrek. The line was very long. We skipped it and moved on to rides that would honor it.

If you are planning on seeing Shrek on Friday......plan on waiting.

That's odd. Did they honor it for Shrek on the other days you were there?

Yes.....We were able to use the room key card for express pass Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. We tried to use them Friday and they told us that Express did not apply to Shrek on Friday.

We were there on Friday and we were able to use our room key for Shrek. There was a separate line going to the left as you faced the entrance door. There was never more than ten people in the line. Saw it twice and the room key was a real plus because the regular line was very, very long. Our DD is a huge Shrek fan. After the show she got her picture taken with Shrek and Fiona! FOTL was great!

It takes a special package deal and a letter to get in early.
