Early departure from Aulani and other questions

We have an 8:30 AM departure home from HNL and I am trying to nail down some details for our upcoming trip. Would 5:30 AM (ugh) be early enough to leave Aulani? I wish we could take a later flight but that's not an option for us. I was just planning on an Uber, or would someplace like Charlie's Taxi be better at that time of day? We'll be renting a car for a few days in the middle of our trip but have resort days at the end so I don't need one the entire time.

Second, we have sunset pictures scheduled for Kualoa on a weekend. My driving app is telling me it's about an hour drive at that time, does that sound about right? Any recommendations for dinner on that side of the island after? It'll be kind of late so something quick.

Thanks all! It's finally feeling REAL. It was about this time in 2020 that our trip at the same time was rescheduled, rescheduled again, then I gave up and just cancelled completely. On top of everything else that was going on it was incredibly disappointing, so I've sort of kept this trip at arm's length until now.

This was our first trip where we couldn’t drive back from if something happened … and I felt the same way. But it was great!

The guides at Kualoa recommended Waiahole Poi Factory for lunch but it looks like they close pretty early. It took us about 50 minutes to get to Kualoa around 8am on a Saturday.

My Google map is saying it will take 25-35 min this Saturday AM. We have a rental car so we are going to budget an hour (and still get to the airport about 90 min before boarding)

Great, this sounds like I was in the ballpark for estimating times. Thanks! If you don't mind, I'd really appreciate it if you could report back about wait times at the airport in the morning when you get back.

We are overnighting in LAX right now. We have tsa precheck so it was pretty fast. What we hadn’t anticipated was that checked bags need to go through an agricultural inspection (we never check bags except … those Moana paddles!!) but it took us about 25 minutes to get to the airport at midday Saturday, and we had a pretty leisurely time through the airport.
