Has anyone gotten early check-in before? & if yes how early? If we arrive first thing in the morning 8 or 9am - will the hotel (CS) hold our bags for us?

Thanks!

You can Pre-register anytime after about 6am. They will issue you your resort ID cards and park passes (if you have passes through the hotel). You will probably not be able to get a room early in the morning (rooms are guaranteed after 3pm but could become avalaible earlier), but they can hold your bags in storage and you can head out for breakfast or to the parks and come back later in the day to get your room number.

I've arrived twice at the resorts (once Poly, once GF) before 8am and both times was checked in and in my room by 9am. But that's obviously based on room availability at the time. We've usually arrived on a Sunday or Monday

Poly and Boardwalk, checked in by 8am...both times our rooms were ready.

Pop Century we had to wait til midday (we headed out to Epcot tho, so it wasnt a biggie) and Carribbean Beach took about a couple of hours...

I think it depends on the time of year you're there and the day of the week you are checking in. We arrived at ASMo on a Thursday morning about 11am-ish.... My big joke to DH was everyone will be checking out and we'll be checking in. Just ask if they have a room ready.....mousekeeping is pretty eager to get in there and get the room cleaned up! There are always people checking out first thing in the morning, so, their rooms will be cleaned up first and available.

We checked into (and our room was ready) at POR before 7 AM. Checked into GF at 8:30 and our room was ready there too! We must have hit it lucky because we also checked into GF at 11:00 one time and room wasn't ready until 4:00.

DH and I have been very lucky with early check-ins. We have checked in early and were able to get our room right away on 5 of our 6 trips - including this year and our hotel was at 97% capacity. Just depends on what they have available. But, either way, they will lock up your luggage for you and you can head right off to the parks if your room isn't available.

Think it depends on what kind of room you have. If it's a standard view at the CBR, you're probably going to get a room. If it's a lagoon view concierge at the Yacht Club, you're probably going to have to wait. Everything is possible, though. We've been 2 for 3 on early check in, with 11:00 being the earliest we've tried.

Someone once posted that upgrades are much less frequent for early check in, which makes some common sense, but is a very interesting question. It'd be great to hear people's experience on that.

When we drive we get in at about 9:30.

Some times we get right in. This was the case with yacht club, Port orleans

but at contemp, and poly, we had to wait an hour or 2.

it's really just hit or miss,

So does that mean upgrades aren't predetermined? For some reason I thought they were...I guess they give you whats available at the moment, huh?

I really don't konw. The process is such a mystery to me. I think for some kind of rooms or times of year, the room controller(s) essentially has to put everything together like a jigsaw puzzle, particularly for concierge and stuff. At other times, they apportion the rooms depending on their upcoming 4 or 5 day template and the checker in has discretion. I know the most recent time we went -- about two weeks ago -- when we checked in the checker in brought up a big long list of rooms that she scrolled through. She saw one in particular, said, "that's a good one," (or something like that) and then called housekeeping to see if we could go up there. It ended up being a view upgrade.

So, I'm pretty much guessing here based on not much info other than personal experience, but it is clear to me that at least some of the time the exact rooms are not pre-assigned. Whether we had already been predetermined for a view upgrade I can't say, although I really don't think so. I think she did it at the desk for us.

just wanted to let you know that we were just at the BC and we got there at noon and we were not able to get into our room until 3. We had access to the conceirge lounge and they held our luggage -- however we could not get in a room :(

i don't want to be discouraging -- just want you to know to plan so that you may or may not get your room early :)

We arrived at about 1pm and our room was ready. It was a preferred room because there was a major mix-up when I booked the trip and they gave us the room no charge. I only found that out when I arrived to check in. Usually check-out time is 11:00 am I believe so I guess it gave them enough time to clean the room. Shortly after that the line-ups started and when I was done there had to have been 15 people behind me. When I was checking in, it seemed that everyone was getting there room.

A lot of people leave early in the am if they are driving home. We leave around 4 am. I'm sure there are many rooms that they can clean before 11:00.

I've gotten a room at the GF at 7:00 am.
