A few questions:

Are there only certain days DL lets people in for early admission?

Who is 'allowed' in early?

I thought I read somewhere to avoid the park during these times since they are wall to wall people. I thought the advantage of the early admission was to go when the crowds were a lot less.

Thanks for the info!!!

From what I've heard, its not like WDW where the entire park is open early. Only Toontown or Fantasyland are open early to guests who book through Disney travel.

And its a fairly new process, I haven't heard much feedback on it, so I'd be interested on hearing reviews.

We can get a really good deal on a 3 day vs a 2 day park hopper tix. One of the perks is early admission one day. I'm just wondering how this works.

Guests who book through WDTC are given vouchers that will let them in Disneyland an hour early to go to Fantasyland. They also have vouchers that will let them in Toontown an hour before it opens (Toontown typically opens an hour after the park), and there is a little parade, honorary family gets attention, etc. You get to do this once per reservation, and there are certain days that DL is participating. Oh - you get a button, too.

This is not actually a new thing. When we went 10 years ago or so (we were there during the earthquake) we had early admitance and a character breakfast. Must just be rehashing old ideas.

When did this start happening?? Does anyone know if this is a permanent thing?

This is a 2005 special that just started - I don't know if they'll continue it for the whole 50th celebration, or if they'll do something different in 2006.

Every year, the Disney team changes the perks for their guests. AAA books through WDTC (Walt Disney Travel Company), and so does Dreams Unlimited Travel (the travel agency owned by Pete Werner, who also owns the DIS) :)

Just to confirm what Mary Jo said, the details below are from a reply we received from Disneyland Resort Guest Communications 13th January 2005

Disneyland had early admission for a portion of the park (usually Fantasyland and a couple of select rides) for many years. 10 years ago it was great! Guests could ride all the Fantasyland rides before the park opened. The perk for 1 early admission was offered with some multi-day passes as is now again the case. Early admission was also available to guests of the Disneyland Hotel for each day of their stay that early admission was available, typically about 4 days a week. Over time, more and more people were able to get in for early admission. The number of Disney Hotels grew from 1 to 3, with early admission available to guests of all 3 hotels. Some multi-day passes offered 2 early admission passes instead of just 1. It got to the point that the park got very crowded during early admission. I believe the early admission perk at Disneyland was discontinued shortly after FastPass was introduced.
It sounds like Disney may be trying to go back to limiting the number of guests. I haven't heard that it is a perk available to all guests of the on-sight hotels as it was before it was discontinued. If the number of guests are limited, I think it's a really cool perk.
