After four years of hard work, I am mailing our final credit card debt payment today. :banana::cool1::banana:

As of today, DH and I are completely debt free!! No mortgage, no car payments, no credit card debt. :woohoo:

I’m looking forward to building some savings and funding DD’s college fund.

We’ve made some very significant lifestyle changes in last few years, and I do not regret it. Had we kept going the direction we were heading, this post would more than likely be about our divorce and/or bankruptcy.

Trying to think of something to do to celebrate, but it seems silly to spend money celebrating the fact you’re out of debt. :laughing:

That is SOOOO great! I don't have any good advice on how to celebrate, as you are right it does seem a bit counterproductive to spend money on such an event, but you have every right to be proud and find some special way of marking the occasion.

:goodvibes

I LOVE THIS! Thanks so much for posting your good news! What about spending a little bit of extra $$ at the grocery store and going on a really nice picnic somewhere. Pick up a couple fun types of cheese, some high quality roast beef or turkey, some grapes, a small veggie tray, a nice loaf of bread and some sparkling cider so your daughter can share. Eat off real plates and drink out of real wine glasses. Then have something totally delicious for dessert. I think that would be a really wonderful and different celebration. Probably as expensive as going out somewhere but definately more memorable and more celebratory feeling.

Congratulations!!!!! :cool1: I paid off our van this week, and we no longer have car payments. We don't have credit card debt, but we have a line of credit that needs to go next....

Wow! Congrats! I hope I can pull that off for my 40th. Not looking likely but it's something to aspire to.

Congratulations! You made a goal and then you worked to achieve it. Celebrate by sharing what you did so others can benefit. I bet those lifestyle changes are now called "good habits" and you are well on your way to building wealth soon!
There is no guilt in starting a vacation fund at this time... you have earned it!

:thumbsup2:cool1::woohoo::yay::cheer2:

Happy Birthday!! I think you its great that you've been able to pay everything off. We are working on it right now.

Our family also just paid off our final debt (mortgage), and celebrated last weekend. Our daughters (7 and 9) love eating at Japanese Steakhouses (like the one at Epcot). We pooled the monthly restaurant budget to splurge on a fun celebratory dinner. So no eating out for a few weeks, but it was worth it!

Congratulations! That is a major accomplishment and one I hope to achieve, but not by 40 (that happened a couple of years ago).

Enjoy your debt-free status!
