Forgive me if this has been asked before, but we are doing a land/sea vacation, with the cruise being first. I was wondering what the earliest we could expect to get to our resort from the port may be? I am trying to figure out what time to make my FP+'s for our first day after we arrive and trying to see how much time we will have in a park that day. I know it is about an hour drive, but what time do the buses usually leave(we are doing ME)? Do they wait until they are full, or do they have several that leave at different times? Thanks!

Buses start loading as soon as people start getting off the ships. They depart as they are full. I know that's not real helpful, but most people going from port to WDW report that they've been checked in by about 9:30-10:00 at their resorts. Of course, you want to be off the ship as early as possible to do that.

I had a rental car and made it Universal at 9:05 am. Didn't have to check into any resort though.

My timeline from our cruise that returned January 23rd:
  • ~6:30 - I raided the buffet and brought pastries down to our cabin to snack on while we got dressed.
  • 7:00 (or a little after) - We left the cabin with our luggage and express disembarkation started just as we got down to the atrium.
  • ~7:45 - We took Disney transport back to the airport to get our rental car, the bus filled quickly and we were on our way.
  • 8:48 - We made our way to the Hertz garage ... I have a picture of my son attempting to load the trunk of the rental car that is stamped 8:48.
  • 9:19 - The next photo was one my wife took driving under the WDW arch.
  • ~9:25 - We went directly to the T&TC and the line for the monorail to MK was a cluster ... so we got on the ferry, which may or may not have been faster. We got through the turnstiles for our obligatory photo op in front of the train at 10:01.

Thank you all for your help! This gives me a good idea of where to start.

You should get there about 9-10 if you get to breakfast on-time and then go straight off to get your luggage. The buses run for a long time, so some people want to get there early and others take their time. I wouldn't be in a huge hurry because you have to wait for a full bus anyway.

We must hold the record for the latest time - 12.30 pm
our cruise last October, from the time we boarded the bus till we got to the resort was 2 hours 35 minutes. it was nuts. the driver dropped off at four resorts before even asking us where we were going. we were going to AKL but the one other family left on the bus were going to another resort all together. they would have been close to 3 hours.
