Earlier flight with stand-by with Air Tran, and DME ???

I have a flight booked with Air Tran for this Tuesday. I'm thinking about trying to get on an earlier flight for that day.

Sooo......

Has anyone ever done a stand by for an earlier flight with Air Tran? How does it work? Did you pay for a confirmed seat or did you just wait to see if a seat would be available?

Also what has with DME? Would I be able to get on an earlier bus when I get to MCO?

Thank you in advance for the help. This is my first time flying to MCO so this is all new to me as I have driven to WDW in the past.

Can't help on the Air Tran part of this question. But DME will be ready for you if you do get there early. There isn't a bus waiting just for you - its just an assembly line. Load 'em up, move 'em out.

I know Disney can be magical and accommodating but I'm not expecting them to have a bus waiting just for me. Although it would be nice...
I wasn't sure if they sent buses based on how many people are scheduled to arrive at certain times.

We have flown airtran standby several times and no we did not have to pay extra to do this. When you check in at the ticket counter simply ask if you can fly on the earlier flight and if there are seats they will give you a ticket for the earlier flight.

Thank you. Not to sound ignorant ( I just want to be sure), you waited to check in when you got to the airport and not in advance, correct?
