Earl of Sandwich NYC!!

Awesome news for you, but I want one in Chicago!

I have to admit that I ate at the one in Las Vegas (the Planet Hollywood hotel) just because it reminded me of Disney. :lovestruc

You might want to keep checking the Earl of Sandwich website. They might release more details and/or press releases there.

I would love one in Chicago too. I probably wouldn't get to it too often, but it would be more than the once a year fix I get nowadays.

My Girlfriend LOVES the Earl of Sandwich. I will pass this on and we will probably be eating there once a week if she has her druthers.
:thumbsup2

Thank you for the news.

Doesn't NYC have real delis just about everywhere? Why would they be excited about a sandwich chain restaurant, even a good chain?

It would be like getting excited that Pizza Hut was opening a location in Times Square even though you are surrounded by some of the best little pizzerias in the world or going to Rome or Paris and eating at McDonald's.

I think for us it is just a way to tap into a little bit of Disney World. You are right that we have great places to eat but for an hour we can (hopefully) be whisked away to a happier time and place, talk and reminisce about our previous stays at Disney. I guess it maybe silly but I am looking forward to the restaurant opening up.:cool1:

What Steamboat Willie said! Besides, most of my favorite delis have been homogenized into a sort of panini network of HELL. Fellow New Yorkers, you know what I mean! Unless I'm over on 2nd avenue, which is another story. Or the village in general. Either one. But even those places are getting homogenized with Cafe Metro and all that kinda crap.

Earl of Sandwich has some of the best sandwiches i've ever eaten (stateside anyway), and it will feel like a brief glimpse of Disney (alongside Naples 45 by Grand Central.. which a friend and I tried for the first time just a few weeks ago, great arancini!).

And when I'm in Times Square for a show, this will be an inexpensive before or after theater treat!

Very excited about this news! I work in NYC and would definitely welcome Earl Of Sandwich, in my opinion their food is a great value for the money. It is becoming more and more difficult to get a good fast food lunch for around $10-$12 in the city, for that fact alone I think Earl Of Sandwich will gain quite a following.

I can't wait to see where it will be located!

I can relate to the excitement you feel. I recently found an Earl of Sandwich while out doing errands in San Antonio. :yay:
The taste most certainly took me back to WDW, however the lack of people was a bit surreal to me.
DH and I were the ONLY people in there.

Super news.
Congrats on your W&D finish! I was there, too, but plodding along towards the back, because I stopped to take pictures everywhere!

Not really - the real delis are tucked away in far-off places. I wouldn't eat anything in most of the "delis" in the more accessible areas.

Exactly! I wish it were opening sooner than next year, though. I had the holiday sandwich last weekend and am already trying to find a way to get back for just one more before it goes away.

The closest Earl to us is in Boston at Logan. DH and I were ready to drive there for a fix until we found out it was after security check in. :( So I look forward to it the two times we are in WDW every year. A treat. Although NYC is just 2.5 hours away....

its going to be in times square, but i dont know the exact block its going to be on. I wonder if they are going to be able to keep the same low prices tho as the other locations? I'm sure the rent is going to be upwards of 75 grand a month, so im quite curious to see the price points!

Right idea, bad example. Times Square *is* full of places like Pizza Hut and other chains. The best pizzerias in NYC are in Brooklyn, though there are a few good ones in Lower Manhattan.

But I agree with another poster. The true NYC deli is going the way of dinosaur and generic, homogenized chains or chain-like places are becoming all too ubiquitous.

Earl of Sandwich may find that it attracts a good clientele, but I suspect the enthusiasm on this forum is due to its connection with Disney.

Where at Logan?
