Ear-drum shattering screaming by ToT guests throughout the entire ride.

ToT used to be one of our favorite rides in all of WDW. Lately, though, it seems that every time we ride, the entire ride car of guests begins screaming immediately and persistently, as if one if trying to outdo the other in how loudly and histrionically they can shriek! I'm not talking about just during the drops, (which I'd expect) I'm talking about throughout the entire course of the ride, from the time the doors initially close to the time that they finally open. When we rode in December, our ears rang for hours afterwards. I'm wondering--is this sort of screaming as if possessed by a demon a new "tradition" of sorts among ToT riders? I'd hate to think we have to give up one of our favorites, but honestly, that kind of screaming totally ruined that ride for us (as well as our hearing) Anyone else noticing this?

I think you just got unlucky.

BTW, if your experience was ruined for any reason (ie, rude guests, broken ride, etc...), it never hurts to have a word with a cast member as you're getting off. Sometimes they'll put you right back on the next car without having to wait in line, so you can have a good ride before you leave.

We rode ToT last trip with an elevator full of cheerleaders and us... I thought we would never hear again. ;) The screams and shrieks started immediately, for no "reason" and then they'd giggle and then scream again. This was unusual though, we have been on it since with a more "normal" experience. I think it depends on your fellow rider.

I think that you got unlucky too. This is rude. Having a good time does not mean that you have the right to be inconsiderate of others.:cool2:

I agree that you were just unlucky. :(

We just got back last night and rode the ToT a good 10 times and did not experience this at all.

I agree with PPs - just an unfortunate experience. I once had a somewhat unpleasant ride on Soarin' due to a similar situation. A group of women was seated next to us, and they were absolutely hysterical the entire time. And I don't mean "funny" hysterical - I mean high-pitched shrieking and screaming and laughing and yelling in a language I don't speak. I gathered that they were in a silly mood and had no idea what to expect, and somehow the ride just blew their minds. And I'm glad they (apparently) had fun. Still, it made what is an otherwise relaxing attraction a bit uncomfortable  I just chalk it up to bad luck, and it's no big deal - I knew I would have plenty of other opportunities to have a better experience :goodvibes

We rode several times during the trip and it happened every time. On our last time, we mentioned it to the cast member at the exit and he handed us ear plugs to use if we wanted to ride again. Since he was equipped with them, I assumed this was now a typical experience. I hope we'll be luckier next trip. DH loves this ride, but neither of us can stand that kind of screaming.

I also agree with "unlucky." We rode ToT several times and didn't have that experience. BUT we did have trouble with a touring group screaming through the whole experience on.... Star Tours :confused3

So maybe it's becoming tradition for some folks to scream throughout everything they ride.

It isn't just on ToT. We've had it on other rides, too, even when nothing was happening. :rolleyes2

When did you go? Maybe it was during one of Disney special evens like pop-warner or what ever. Never had this issue but then again i haven't ridden it in years...(not willing to wait an hour in line). With that said, i always wear ear plugs when i am in the parks. So many things are too loud and an 85cent foam plug makes the day easier.

I agree. People are getting more rude and a very I could care less if it ruins your time attitude. last time I was one ToT. This lady kept saying everything that was going to happen. Look I understand if you're with a child, you give them heads up but it was two grown adults.

'Ok they are going to open the door and we will see people'

'We are going to go x,y,z"

'Now this is going to happen"

Like seriously? Come on! And I had grown men in the bank yelling as soon as the door shut. Come on! Sorry I feel your pain lol

We had a similar experience on splash mountain. College age-ish guy just being a general idiot screaming/shrieking constantly the whole ride. It was actually scaring a little girl who was maybe 4 or 5 in the boat with us, but he didn't acknowledge anyone who asked him to tone it down. His friend wasn't shrieking but not encouraging him to be quiet either. We chalked it up to being very unlucky to wind up in that particular boat and just did it again another day. Just gotta let the little things roll off your back or you will spend your whole vacation stewing about stuff that really doesn't matter!

There are some jerks in the world, but I believe most people are honest, good, and kind....and you are far more likely to encounter them on the rides!

We were on Jungle Cruise in Feb and a family that did not use English as their first language talked the entire ride so much that we couldn't hear the captain's spiel. I said something to the cast member on the dock when we got off that it would have been better to hear everything. Next thing we knew, we were on a private cruise! My first timer friends loved it and so did I! It was magical.

You are my hero. I rode ToT for the first time this past trip and loved it. We were able to get on it three times, and can't wait to ride it again.

We didn't experience any unusual screamers on any of our rides, fortunately,

We have not had this at ToT, but had a similar experience at Wishes with loud exaggerated Oooohs and AAaaahs with each firework, no matter how large or small. Entire group of about 12, fake ooohing. Makes me feel ridiculous, but it really bothered me.:mic:

Had a similar experience once on Haunted Mansion....as you leave the room and walk toward the Doom Buggy - teenage girls just acting ridiculous. My DD was 5 at the time and she was in tears. I was afraid it would make her afraid to ride, but it didn't...however, EVERY SINGLE TIME we ride that ride she mentions it.

I know that many people are going to "do their own thing" at Disney without much regard for others, but this was so over the top that I really feared hearing damage. I can't imagine how much more difficult this would have been for a young child whose ears are even more sensitive.

We had the same thing happen when my oldest DD was 4. She was looking forward to riding HM for the very first time and wasn't the least bit scared...until we got in the Doom Buggy and the tween girls in front of us screamed through the ENTIRE ride. My DD spent most of the ride with her face buried in my side because she was sure there were scary things happening since the girls in front of us were screaming. Fortunately, we rode it again later in the trip without the screamers. But my DD also mentions it every time we go on the ride.

I had a similar experience on PotC. Some rude, ignorant yahoo up front going, "Ooh!!" and "Ahh!!" in a loud, exaggerated voice while his friend laughed. Someone else in the boat finally shouted "Will you shut up?!" and he quieted down. I can honestly say that this was the only bad experience I had while on a ride. Had plenty of bad experiences in the lines, though.

Ugh. I took my daughter on Haunted Mansion in December. She was 4 months short of turning 3 when we went and she absolutely loved it the first two times we went on it. Then, the third time, we were in the stretching room with a screamer. As soon as the lights went out, she screamed at the top of her lungs. Her friends laughed and joined in. So we are in this dark room was 3-4 girls screaming like banshees. Then one yells, "We're all going to die!" My daughter got scared and started crying. A cast member told us that if she was too afraid, we could exit. I explained that she had ridden it twice before and requested it this time, but that those girls had really scared her. She apologized and said that they had ridden it multiple times that day and they had received numerous complaints. :sad2:
