E-ride vs EMH

The night we are arriving at WDW the MK has its evening Extra magic hour so we planned to go.

I was just reading about what sounds like the Extra magic hour in a guide book, but they called it E-ride night and say it costs $13. I though the EMH was free to people who were staying at a wdw resort and had the park hopper pass. Is E-ride night and the EMH the same thing? Please explain this to me.

Must be an outdated tour book. The E-Ride night was the old way they did it before EMH. They had tickets for $13 and only sold a specific amount, so there was a controlled amount of people in the parks.

Now, EMH is free, but there can be many more people since it is open to all staying at any Disney resort. Many people would love to go back to the old way where there was much less crowds.

Agree 100%, we basically walked on the rides with the E-ride night. Wish WDW would consider going back & offering this option again.

Another vote to return to e-ride nights ... they were great. Could get on everything you wanted - well worth the $13.00

Another YES for E-nights. It was worth the little it cost to stay and ride late. The current evening EMH is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO crowded it's a waste of time.

Last summer and through previous summers it was called e-nights. We did them every year we went and they were the highlight of our trip. It cost approximately 13 dollars per person and it was limited to 5000 people. It only happened at MK. EPCOT and MGM were not included. They were wonderful nights in MK where you could walk on all 7 or 8 rides that were open. We did everyone available on every trip we took.

We just got back a few weeks ago and did EMH. The two do not compare. You have to view EMH as just extended hours in the park with the same long lines you have during the day. If you look at it that way and don't compare them to E-Nights you can enjoy it. Unfortunately, for those of us who have done e-nights it is a bit more difficult.

I'd gladly pay to have the e-night experience back.

I couldn't agree more with you!

We did one at MK and that was enough for us! Maybe they're better in the "off season", but I would rather have e-ride nights in the summer!

Another agreement with wishing that E-nights still existed. This summer I was I found EMH at night to be a waste of my time--think of lines with no fast passes available. It is easier to get up early and hit the previous nights EMH park. You will get a ton done. If you have shopping to do you might want to save that for EMH at MK, I don't know what was open in the other parks, we just left after seeing what the wait times were (120 on RR and 90 on TT).

We were just in WDW from August 3-8....and we did the evening EMH for every park that had it while we were there (MK, Epcot, & MGM). It certainly wasn't as horrendous as people kept saying it was on here (and the later you stay, the less people there are) and we were able to walk on almost anything we wanted right away. The only exceptions to that were Space Mountain (30 minute wait), Soarin (45 minute wait) and everything at MGM had long lines. Everything else was at most a 5 minute wait...and that's pushing it.

That said, we do prefer the e-ride nights. There were a lot of wanderers (not riders) at EMH, though the numbers dropped more and more as the night went on. E-ride was really nice for more popular rides such as Space Mountain. But aside from big things such as that, we didn't have a problem with anything else. After everything I read on the DIS, I was expecting EMH to be a madhouse, particularly at MK. I was pleasantly surprised when the only wait we experienced was for Space Mountain at MK and Soarin at Epcot (Test Track was closed due to a storm). The only EMH we did not enjoy was MGM...EVERYTHING there had long lines. We didn't ride anything there at all.
