E-mail question

For some reason when I email one of our renters it always comes back as undeliverable. I have the email address correct. This happens even if I reply directly from an email he sent me. Any guesses as to why and what I can do to change that? It is the only address I have problems with.

Read the codes in the return message. Possibly the person's box is full or some other reason. It will explain, in fairly simple language, somewhere in the message what the problem is.

Yeah, I've gotten emails sent back to me saying they were undeliverable when someone's mailbox is full. Like the above poster said, skim through all the text that is in that message; somewhere it should mention the reason.

It says 'mailbox unavailable' but I know it is there, he sent me mail from that account.

For whatever reason, it could be that the person has accidentally put your address on their ignore list. That could send the emails back to you because of that. Also, are you sending to an AOL? When I was working at a university, we could not get our emails to go through to any AOL adds for some unknown reason.

Maybe they didn't pay the rent!!

No, they are very good about paying the rent so that isn't it . I will have him check to see if I am on his blocked list by accident next time I talk to him.

Just because there's a return email address in the email doesn't mean it's correct. It's quite possible for it to be wrong or contain a typo.

Have you tried sending from a different email address? (Like from Yahoo or Hotmail or Gmail or some other free account)

Also, view the full headers of the email this person sent you (if you use Outlook Express, you can press Alt-Enter and click the Details tab to view the full headers) and make sure their return-path, From, or reply-to settings match what it should be.
