We flew from Akron-Canton, Ohio to MCO direct and landed about 2:30 pm on Sept 27th. We were checked in and oohhing over our Royal Room at Port Orleans Riverside by 4:30.
We took the boat over to Downtown Disney for 5:30 ADR at T-Rex, which was great - much better than I anticipated. The theming was great - we were seated in a round booth (perfect to trap a 3 and 5 year old in between the two adults) on the edge of the sea aquarium room. The girls loved all of the baby dinosaurs. I heard T-Rex was loud, but it wasn't as loud as I thought it might be - though not a quiet, signature meal.
I was amazed at how delicious our food was. Since we were on DxDP, mY cousin ordered the French onion soup, which came in a great metal crock and she was was delicious. I ordered the mozzarella appetizer with mozzarella stickers and fried, fresh mozzarella. The mozzarella sticks were your typical, but the fresh mozzarella was amazing! It was very rich and fresh with a sauce that had a nice kick.
For our main courses, I had the lasagne and my cousin had the cheese tortellini. Both were excellent and tasted much better than I anticipated. My lasagne had very fresh ingredients and tasted like it came from an authentic Italian restaurant instead of a themed giant of a place. I ended coming back again the last night for the lasagne - my favorite was the layer of rich cheese on the top!
Though we were stuffed, I ordered the key lime pie and my cousin ordered the ice cream sandwich. She really liked her dessert and so did her daughter. My key lime slice was huge and pretty good, but not the best key lime in Florida.
I would rate T-Rex as 5 out of 5 for theming and, surprisingly, 4.5 out of 5 for food. I am planning to take my husband there in June.
