We are going during free dining and I am already planning 3 breakfast ADRs OOP. It would cost about $300 more dollars (adding on the OOP ADRs) to upgrade to the deluxe. I can certainly find more restaurants to eat at, but is it really worth it?

For those of you that have done deluxe,
Do you feel that all you do is eat?
Is it great not having to worry about your credits?
Did you really gets your money's worth?

For those that have only done basic dining,
Was it enough food?
Did you have to pay alot more OOP than you planned on?

If it matters its me,dh,ds8,dd6,dd4.
Thanks

Hi!

We have done the regular DP and this coming trip (June) we are trying the DxDP. And the decision to upgrade was based exactly on what you said - we were already planning several OOP meals PLUS we always buy refillable mugs - $12.99x4=51.96.

So, I did the math (MANY times) and it is actually better for us to do the DxDP. Now we won't be spending money on any food out of pocket (with the exception of Tea at the Garden View Lounge). But everything else is COVERED. I feel much better about this because when we've done the regular DP, which I think was the past three trips, we always spent at least another $500.00 on food/snacks. So, for us, it's worth it to go deluxe.

Plus, we're doing HDDR, CRT and at least one room-service meal.

I think it's worth it. Hope this helps!

We love the deluxe plan. We used it in Jan '08 and will be using it again on our next trip.

It is more planning than the basic plan. We make 2 ADRs per day, so it really didn't feel like that much food. We did a lot of 2 credit meals (signatures, CRT and room service).

It was FABULOUS not worrying about credits and not ever looking at a single price when thinking about what to order.

We had quite a few snacks left on our last day, but part of that was circumstance since I was newly pregnant and still in the morning sickness phase. Otherwise a lot more of them would have been used on sweets, pastries, and Dole Whips. They didn't go to waste, though - we took home enough snacks for my kids to share with their classmates when they returned to school. :)

Absolutely we got our money's worth and then some. I think we came out about $500 ahead, and that was with paying the full price of the plan. The upgrade during free dining is just a no brainer for us.

This will be our second year upgrading to the deluxe during FD. It is totally worth it for our family. We love to sit down to eat and really enjoy the signature places. Our DD's are teens now and a two hour dinner does not phase them.
The refillable mugs are great!!
The extra snack credit is needed in the August heat.
I also know that I will not be shelling out extra money for food as the DxDDP is more food than any family needs:lmao:

I already have all our ADR's planned out and hopefully will be able to get them!!!(Only 40 days to go:goodvibes)

I always do the deluxe plan because I like to do a couple of shows/signature that take 2 TS credits. I do feel like I live to eat sometimes though because of ADR's more than the deluxe plan. I end up gaining 5-8 pounds per trip, so I end up on a little diet upon returning home for a month or so.

I think it really depends on how much your family eats.

I thought the DDP was plenty for myself and my niece. I shared CS meals with her when we were at the parks and she had her own CS meal in the morning or evening depending on our TS meal.

This year we are going to do breakfast in the room (cereal and milk-soy for her) as it just took to long to get her food. We should have even more CS meals left over with us doing that.
