Hi dining gurus,

We have had the regular DDP with "free" dining years ago, but since have moved to Tables in Wonderland and ordering groceries in since we bought DVC.

Fast forward to next week (yippee!) when my mum is coming along and we want to take her for some nice meals out. We are doing a triple split stay, so we are looking at the deluxe plan for our first section of two nights. We have three adults and one extremely picky kiddo of 6 years. If I am looking at the numbers correctly, we will have 4x3x2 credits total...is this accurate?

Our plan is as follows:

-Trattoria al Forno: 3 credits, pay for kiddo OOP using TIW
-Hollywood and Vine: 4 credits
-Hollywood Brown Derby: 6 credits, and pay for kiddo OOP using TIW
-Cape May buffet: 4 credits
-Narcoossees: 6 credits for the adults, and some confusion. Is the kids meal also two credits? If so, we will pay OOP for him and use the last credit for either three snacks sometime over those three days or a QS meal that two of us can share...I am not sure I understand the Signatures when it comes to kids meals.

Does this look doable or am I missing something? It is way more than we would normally eat, but for three days out of ten, I think it will be fun to have some nice meals and order apps and desserts, which we wouldn't normally do. I am not clear on the kids meals but ours wouldn't eat any of the appetizers so it makes more sense to use his credits for the adults and pay his $8 nuggets out of pocket...or do I have something wrong here?

Thanks in advance for any advice :)!

I think I am doing the same thing - split stay, 3 nights at Poly DVC with DxDDP and some awesome meals then slacking off last 4.

only comment I have is if you end up with an extra credit why not just use it first night for the kiddo rather than for a QS and snacks? Seems like more work to use it up to save like $5?

Kids meals are 2 credits at signatures... remember, you are only paying like $33 a day for their 3 credits and 2 snacks so you are paying approximately $7.50 per meal credit if $5/snack... so while you can buy a whole lot more than a kids meal at a signature with those 2 credits, you are really only paying for those credits pretty close to what a meal at a signature would cost for them OOP. Hope that makes sense?

Signatures are 2 TS credits regardless of age. Lisa F has the best suggestion to use his credit at Trattoria instead of paying OOP or trying to use it elsewhere. He can even order an adult meal if there is something on the menu that appeals to him. I guess if you're headed to somewhere like Tangeriene or Flame Tree of Cosmic Rays or Wolfgang Puck, it might make sense to save it and use it for a QS to split. What are your plans for your other meals on those two days?

Thank you both, this is why I asked for advice :)!

With that much food, we won't be eating anywhere else those days. We can use the snack credits for a pretzel here or there if we get a bit hungry between the two meals, as I'm not sure what we are going to do with those otherwise. At least a Mickey bar ;)!

Kiddo eats very small portions and is very picky, so he wouldn't eat the appetizers anyway and maybe just a few bites of dessert...but using it at Trattoria makes a lot of sense.

So they won't have a problem with not using credits for him at the signatures and us using TIW for wine and his meals?

No, that makes a lot of sense to me. My kiddo is very picky too, italian tends to be easier because they have SOME kind of pasta and I can get it plain (unsauced) with butter and cheese on the side (or sometimes they will do this in the kitchen). My kid won't eat tomato sauce :-p I just feel like I am spending a fortune to feed him $0.25 worth of food though ;)

also have a plan for using up those extra snacks. on DxDDP it is 2 snacks a day per person and for my plan I figure I will have 4-6 left at the end... I am switching from Poly dvc (keep fingers crossed! waiting for 7 months lol) to BWV and my plan is to hit the bakery at the end of our day and buy croissants and pastries for the next day or two breakfasts. The DxDDP, the dining plan that keeps on giving ;). I know even on regular dining plan people are rushing around to use up their snacks. I figure that we can probably use 3 a day (a savory snack each plus a sweet snack to share) in the middle of the day. If you want some info on where the best sounding/looking "meal" snacks are let me know, I've been obsessing... I mean perusing menus.

I've been drooling over the snacks thread too :)
lol my kid is a huge fan of funnel cake (any fried dough really) and we are going to try one of those funnel cakes with ice cream at Oasis Canteen in HS while we have the snack credits available!
