DXDDP Frontera and Homecoming

Has anyone here had actual experience at either of these restaurants where one party is "paying" (using DXDDP credits) for another party who does NOT have the plan?? We want to treat our adult children who are not on the plan out to a nice dinner.
We've been told that Disney restaurants allow this but outside owners may not. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
