Yes we have abandoned DCL for the first time; we have an Alaska cruise in a little more than a month. We did have one booked with DCL; but when two couples that are joining us saw the cost they all said "we can't afford that". This is even back when DCL, first introduced the 2016 pricing and it has only got more expensive since. We are cruising with Celebrity and the one thing I am looking forward to in cruising with them is we can do a one-way cruise. We are boarding at Seward, AK and ending at Vancouver, Canada. None of us have been to Vancouver so we are hanging out an extra three nights there and try to get as much in of Vancouver as we can in that short time.

Hopefully I am not spending any part of the cruise thinking/saying, well DCL would have done it this way. And DCL is so much better doing this, etc. I will post a trip report, hopefully being fair and honest in comparing Celebrity vs. Disney.

Looking forward to your comparative report - I always enjoy reading those! You will have fun, I'm sure. Any cruise is better than no cruise (at least I think so, having also only been on DCL) - and you'll be with friends, so that will be a neat experience.

I am also looking forward to your report. We would love to go on an Alaskan cruise and even though we have loved our Disney cruises, we may be looking at another cruise line for Alaska. I have checked out Celebrity online but it will be nice to hear a first-hand report. Have a great cruise!

From what I've read and seen pictures of the X ships on cruise critic, you're going to have a fantastic cruise. I'm looking forward to reading your review as we are considering X for Alaska 2018 for sons graduation trip.

You will have a Fantastic time. My parents favs are Celebrity and DCL and they love Celebrity. Cannot wait to hear about it!

Looking forward to hearing as well! Like many others on these boards, the $$ increases influenced us to check out RCI and NCL. We loved them both and have upcoming cruises booked on both as well. Looking forward to hearing about Celebrity in Alaska!

I can't wait to read your report. I am seriously considering Celebrity for Alaska next year but have only cruised DCL.
