As of right now we have a stay booked for the last wk of Sept at our home resort. Our little guys will be 20 months when we go so we're considering trying to get BLT for its proximity to MK...BUT the other side of me is thinking to just try to go where the lowest points are. We are completely flexible on the dates so I think we should have a shot at getting a 1-bdrm at some point at BLT. If we stay anywhere else we will be renting a car. So my question to all of you who have traveled with toddlers is: will it be worth the points to stay at BLT? We're thinking the convenience of it with our twins may be worth it. What do you think.....to save the points or not to save the points, that is the question...

Thanks!

If you plan on spending the majority of your time at MK, then I would definitely go for BLT. Now I am somewhat biased because it is my home resort, however we have 2 little ones, and have been there with them ranging in age from 4 months to 3 1/2 years old. Being able to walk to and from MK is worth it's weight in gold to us. We love that we can jump on the monorail right there as well. The fewer times we have to drag our stroller on and off Disney busses the better. There is also a splash pad at BLT that our guys loved playing in, and a zero entry pool. The extra bathroom in the one bedroom makes bath time much easier, since you don't have to use the deep whirlpool tub to bathe them in.

Good luck with your decision:)

All good points for BLT.

Kidani is another excellent choice for children. However, our little guy has been going to WDW since he was just a few months old. He's now 8, and if you ask him where to stay, he'll ask for OKW every time. He loves the pool there and the recreation. We love the points and the size.

Having recently come back from a split stay at our two home resorts, BLT and SSR, there is no denying that BLT is just more convenient with the little kids. Not having to fold the strollers is such a luxury. I enjoyed the walk to MK in the morning and we'd take the monorail back in the afternoon/night. We also park hopped for the first time with the kids, which I'm not sure I would have done if we hadn't been staying at BLT and been able to just take the monorail to and from MK and Epcot.

My kids love the pools at SSR, but it takes so much longer to get there by bus, that we have a harder time finding time to get to the pool. We were there in the winter though, so it gets dark at like 4 PM which doesn't help, ha.

We also love going to up top at BLT to watch the fireworks. Even after a long day, my kids want to stay up to watch them and then I can get them right back to the room and to bed.

If I read things right, it seems you are going to rent a car if you don't stay at BLT, so why not spend the extra points instead of money on a rental?

That is EXACTLY what my DH said! Thanks so much, it helps a lot to hear other people's experiences.

I would consider BCV or BWV as well because you can walk to 2 different parks. Also your kids are so little that you can still pick what theme parks you want to go to, lol. If they fall asleep in the stroller you can just stroll home.

There were times when DS was little and would fall asleep in the stroller then we would take the monorail from MK to Epcot if he was asleep and walk back to the resort just enjoying the evening. (only works if you have park hoppers or APs of course)

Hmmmm.....this is a very good idea. Thanks for this! How long are the walks to the parks from BWV?

I am with you! Love the convenience of the Epcot resorts. Always something going on in the evenings if you want it. Strolling into the back of Epcot is priceless. My kids love the boat rides as well.

Just returned from a trip to BLT with our daughter who was nearly 3, and to underscore what others have said, the ability to walk to MK is a HUGE plus. If you plan on spending a fair amount of time there, it probably is worth the premium to stay at BLT. Particularly if you have a park hopper, it's really nice to be able to do the day in one park and then just pop over to MK in the evening to catch the fireworks/parade, maybe ride a couple of things, etc.

Even as compared to other monorail resorts, which all obviously have easy access to MK as well, the fact that you don't have to wait in ANOTHER line on your way out to catch a monorail or ferry to get back to your room adds both time and a sense of control that is very reassuring. Want to go to MK? You're there in 10 minutes at the most. Has your kid hit a wall and you need to leave? Just leave, no need to stand in a crowd with a screaming child waiting for your chariot to arrive.

It will be tough to convince my wife to stay elsewhere!

My kids are older now BUT when they were younger (1 & 4 years old) we stayed at a monorail resort and it was without a doubt the right choice for us. In fact, we didn't venture much beyond the MK and our resort (we may have gone to Downtown Disney with them once or twice on that trip). If you can get BLT, I would go for that :thumbsup2 VWL is another option as you can take a boat from the MK back to the resort.

Proximity to the MK is priceless in my opinion (if that is indeed where you will be spending the majority of your time). There will be many years to come when you can stay at the other resorts, but for now I would stick with BLT or VWL. Good Luck! :goodvibes
