I'm planning on visiting Disney World in August for a site visit. We have Living Seas and Sea Breeze Point on the list, but wanted to add more in case we don't like these venues! I was thinking that it would be really neat to get married in a courtyard of one of the resorts (like Port Orleans, maybe the Polynesian). I know the Boardwalk Inn has areas dedicated to weddings, but I haven't seen any other resorts have these options! Does anyone know if it is possible to have a ceremony at one of the resorts? Also, any other suggestions for reception space is much appreciated! Nothing on the DFTW website is really catching our eye :(

They can only do events at convention-center resorts, so POR/POFQ and the Poly are out. There's Luau Beach (between the Poly and the Wedding Pavilion) though, as well as Picture Point next to the Wedding Pavilion, if your group is 24 or fewer. At the Grand Floridian you could also use the Summerhouse or the Marina, though they're both quite public for a ceremony. At Yacht & Beach Club there's the Marina, Shipwreck Beach and Crescent Cove. The Asbury Patio at the Y&BC convention center might be nice. And of course there's Casitas Courtyard at Coronado Springs. It's beautiful and the guest rooms aren't as close by as they are at Yacht Club Gazebo. The Contemporary has a small courtyard off the Fantasia Ballrooms.

I have photos of most of these locations here: http://disneytravelbabble.com/disney-weddings/wdw-venue-photos/

Bummer!! Thanks Carrie! I would have loved getting married at PO, being that I lived in New Orleans for 4 years and we got engaged at the Blue Bayou in DL. Oh well, guess we'll just have to settle for staying there a night or two :)

Oh, I hear ya! I actually burst into tears when Disneyland's DFTW told me I couldn't be married where I got engaged, New Orleans' Square's Court of Angels (back before Club 33 annexed it). But you could totally do your wedding portraits around Port Orleans with your photographer—there are some gorgeous locations!

OMG you are SO SMART!!! I personally love the look of Sea Breeze Point but my fiancé isn't a huge fan of the Boardwalk (no idea why, I think he's crazy). So I've been going crazy trying to find a place to get married and take our portraits. I never even thought of just taking picture in a different location from where we get married!! I think he's on board now for a Sea Breeze Point ceremony, but just taking pictures at one of the resorts before the ceremony )we were planning on a first look anyway!) I didn't want to miss cocktail hour at the reception venue (if I'm paying for it I want to enjoy it!!) so this works out wonderfully :) :) :)
