Oldest DD just read that the 3rd Lord of the Rings movie comes out on DVD the day before we leave for vacation. Everything that I've read about category 3 rooms states that there is only one tv and a video player. If I look at the room layout, it appears as though there are 2 tv's and this being 2004, I was hoping that the video player had been replaced by a DVD player. Anyone know for sure?

Thanks,
Tammi

Nope - No DVD player as of yet. We cruised in Cat. 3s (8600) in Sept. and April (8086) and both had VCRs....Both did have 2 Tvs one in the bedroom and one in the "living room".

Thanks Virgil,

I'll give DD the bad news and she'll just have to wait until we get home to watch it. At least there will be a few less items that we have to pack now.

WVMD, Hi neighbor. We are in Cat 3 in Jan. Do you know if it is possible to hook up a portable DVD player? The TV in our previous stateroom was not designed for hooking up anything extra.

Hi Mickey Minder - yes you can hook up a portable DVD player - as both the VCR and stereo system had extra inputs.....

Enjoy!

Wife got a portable DVD player with a 5" screen last thanksgiving for under $200 and it has connection cables. Grab one of those and take it with you. Wife loves hers and it helps her get to sleep at night.

Here's another vote for a portable DVD player!

Santa brought one to my girls last Christmas, and it's a great little gadget. We don't have built-in TVs in the car, but we take along the portable for long trips. Then we have the use of it in the hotel. I particularly appreciated it on our last trip when my oldest picked up a stomach virus and spent most of the time on the sofa (thankfully it was just a long weekend in a cabin by the lake, not a once-in-a-lifetime vacation or a place where it'd be difficult to care for a sick child). Money well spent!

Just a note. There was a thread posted about non-concierge rooms in the past. Not all of those rooms have televisions that can take additional equipt. We were in a cat 5 (7114) and could not hook up the DVD player.
