Well, that’s another reason why, as an owner, I wouldn’t deal with them. The whole purpose behind using a broker is to put a buffer between the renter and the owner. Giving the renter the owner’s name removes that level of anonymity. This broker actually gains access to the owners’ accounts thru the owners portal in order to book the reservation. They already confirmed that the person renting out the points was a member.I rented through them last year. I was very nervous about it at first because we we dealing though text messages and the website did not look "official." I also could not find any "reviews" about them anywhere. That said, the person I dealt with was always responsive to my messages and gave me the owner's name to confirm the deed (one way to check if I was getting scammed). It all ended up working out fine.

And for the renter, the broker is supposed to be providing you with a level of security, assuring you that your money is safe by withholding full payment from the owner until the time of checkin. You shouldn’t have to play the role of internet detective to ensure that the “owner” actually owns DVC. And while I assume that you checked the OC comptroller’s website for the deed, be aware that members can also own at AUL, VB, HHI or VGC and none of those deeds are recorded on the OC comptroller’s website.
I rented a confirmed reservation thru a broker a couple weeks ago and the owners name was all over the paperwork that I received. They even told me to say I was a guest of “(the owner)” when I was checking in and to make sure I didn‘t mention I was renting points.
This company is not the only one giving out the owners name.
Renting is permitted by the Public Offering Statement. If they told you that, like Kathy says, they aren't the company to rent from or to.I rented a confirmed reservation thru a broker a couple weeks ago and the owners name was all over the paperwork that I received. I totally agree. As renting is specifically allowed in our purchase contracts, why would the renter be told to say otherwise? I wouldn't be comfortable giving them my DVC login info, either.Renting is permitted by the Public Offering Statement. Could it be that the rental is an RCI exchange (which can't officially be rented)?
